Sugababes - Catfights and Spotlights
60

Overall a basic pop record that leaves little to no imprint as compared to their previous records. The 60s throwback theme is at best minimal and at worst extremely scarce. The standouts on the album are the understated ballads that really shine through as compared to the bigger production tracks. Lyrically, it is okay. Better than some of their previous work at some points, middling most of the record.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Shoot from the Hip
72

On Shoot From the Hip, Sophie strays from her the glitzy pop sound of her 2001 debut, Read My Lips, and explores a somewhat-darker, weird sound. Overall, the star of this album is the production. The lyrics are fine and the vocals are somewhat dead-pan, but the production is what carries the album. I like the darker sound and I think it beautifully compliments her voice. There are some great tracks and some ultimately forgettable ones, but this was great for a sophomore album.

Shakira - She Wolf
92

On She Wolf Shakira explores dance-pop and electro-pop sounds, straying away from her traditional latin pop sound. Overall this sound works for her and is a great avenue for her to play were vocal abilities. She does some experimentation that pays off in the moody "Men in this Town" but falls flat in "Spy". She manages to create a cohesive album without it sounding terribly repetitive, but just as you feel like it is getting going and you want more, she cuts you off. Sitting ... read more

Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing
74

The Best Damn Thing sees Avril watering down her grungy sound from Under My Skin for a more mainstream, girly, pop rock sound. Overall this album is just okay. It is her first album where there seems to be a lot of filler, and there is so much similarity throughout the trackllsit that you feel like you've already heard each sound 5 times before. It is fun and enjoyable and there are some great moments.

Ashlee Simpson - Autobiography
81

Autobiography sees Ashlee taking a messier, rock -edged path compared to her sister. This is a great album for the most part. The middle of the album (tracks 5--8) feels a bit redundant but towards the end it is pretty great. Lyrically it's a typical Avril Lavigne-esqe style.

Kelly Clarkson - My December
79

On My December, Clarkson takes the anger from her sophomore smash and ups the ante. The anger on this record is so strong it practically sizzles. With themes of depression, loneliness, and an overall loss of hope, this album feels like an extreme jump from 2004s Breakaway. That being said, there also seems to be a theme of repetitiveness here. The first three songs are strong pop rock songs, the latter two being almost identical in instrumental and theme. 'Sober' brings the album to ... read more

Sugababes - Taller in More Ways
90

I really enjoy this album. I think it is their first that I enjoyed top to bottom.

Girls Aloud - Sound of the Underground
61

An incredibly mediocre album. The singles carry this album with a few okay album tracks. Overall this is nothing like the girls other albums.

Girls Aloud - What Will the Neighbours Say?
86

I really enjoy this album. It mixes forward thinking pop with traditional pop. It is a little all over the place and I do not enjoy the front loading of the album with its singles, but overall I really like this album nd think it is when the girls really found what works for them.

Sugababes - Angels with Dirty Faces
82

I really enjoy this album, I like the pop sound mixed with the Sugababes grit.

Sugababes - Three
80

I think this is a really good album where the Sugababes really found their footing. It is perfect mix of r&B and pop, there does feel like there are a few tracks that did not ned to be included, but it is overall a good album.

Cheryl - 3 Words
76

I really enjoy this album, despite the will.i.am production. I think it has good variety and is one of her strongest albums.

Kelly Clarkson - All I Ever Wanted
65

Overall a good album, great if you are not looking at her previous album. This album feels like a huge downgrade compared to Breakaway and My December. It's more pop than rock and it just does not have the grit that her 2nd and 3rd records had.

Britney Spears - In the Zone
90

I love this album. This is where Britney was really able to sound like herself. Apart form Brave New Girl, I have no problems with the tracks. Production is amazing and the album has a perfect 20 something sound.

Britney Spears - Femme Fatale
84

Takes everything that was wrong with Circus and immensely improves upon it. This album is so heavy in production and every song feels like it was crafted to be a single, there really is not filler. The only problem I have are the vocals. They are heavily produced which works sometimes, while other times it makes it sound lifeless and robotic. She sounds very bored on some of these songs.

Jennifer Lopez - Rebirth
69

This sounds incredibly dated, but I like it. Some standouts but a lot of forgettable tracks.

Jennifer Lopez - This Is Me...Then
64

It's okay. It feels like a downgrade from J.Lo but somehow feels stronger musically. There is some filler but I think that overall it is just an okay album

Girls Aloud - Out of Control
79

They take what they did on Tangled Up, watered it down, and added some 60s elements. I think this album works well for what they wanted to do and that was make more of a mainstream sounding album. There are still some of those weird elements that make Girls Aloud, Girls Aloud. I think they did the throwback concept better than Sugababes, by just slightly adding it to some songs with a modern twist.

Britney Spears - B in the Mix: The Remixes
90

Best remix album ever. Every track is improved upon while still maintaining the core of the original song.
