Deftones - White Pony
93

A fantastic album. Hard to believe that there's still seven albums left after this one. Though this one is going to be tough to beat.

Favorite song is either "Digital Bath" or "Change (In the House of Flies)"
Least favorite song is "Teenager"

Dimmu Borgir - Grand Serpent Rising
75

Their first new album in eight years, and yeah, this one was decent. I don't think there's enough material for a 69-minute record (I feel like they could have cut the closing track and it would have been fine), but I still liked what I heard.

Favorite song is "As Seen in the Unseen"
Least favorite song is "Gjǫll"

Dethklok - The Dethalbum
83

I'm very biased towards this one because I watched Metalocalypse a lot in middle and high school, so it should come as no surprise that I fuck with this very hard.

Favorite song is either "Awaken" or "Dethharmonic"
Least favorite song is "The Lost Vikings"

Buzzcocks - Attitude Adjustment
43

Full disclosure, I did not finish this album. This was bad. The lead singer sounds tired and like he doesn't want to be doing this anymore, the mixing is all sorts of messed up, the lyrics and empty and meaningless, the constant fade-outs at the ends of the songs were getting annoying... this might be the worst rock album I've heard this year.

Favorite song is "Queen of the Scene"
Least favorite song is "Poetic Machine Gun"

The Moody Blues - The Magnificent Moodies
70

There's not much to say about this one. It's a totally innocuous, perfectly serviceable collection of beat songs from the '60s.

Favorite song is "Stop"
Least favorite song is "True Story"

Jefferson Airplane - Jefferson Airplane Takes Off
68

This is a bit unfair of me to say, but by the time this album came out, the Beatles had already taken over psychedelic rock, so this just doesn't really stand out. It's not bad at all, I'm just not hearing anything that I haven't heard done before, and done better.

Favorite song is "Blues from an Airplane"
Least favorite song is "Chauffeur Blues"

DaBaby - BE MORE GRATEFUL
57

I didn't think this album was awful, but these lyrics are something else. He also interpolates Peanut Butter Jelly Time at some point. I wish I was joking.

Favorite song is "CLEAR THIS SHIT"
Least favorite song is "BABY DADDY MUSIC"

The All-American Rejects - Sandbox
63

Fourteen years after their last album, and... eh. I'm not really seeing why this one had to take so long. A bit disappointed by this one.

Favorite song is the title track
Least favorite song is "Get This"

Social Distortion - Born To Kill
80

Their first new album in 15 years, and I am so happy to hear that they haven't missed a beat. Still absolutely love this guy's voice.

Favorite song is "The Way Things Were"
Least favorite song is "Walk Away (Don't Look Back)"

Drake - ICEMAN
61

I didn't dislike it, but there's not much here that suggests that Drake is in for any sort of redemption arc anytime soon. Though him saying "Fuck the big three anyway" is really funny.

Favorite song is "2 Hard 4 the Radio"
Least favorite song is "Burning Bridges"

Richard Marx - After Hours
66

If you like jazz or any other type of music that wouldn't feel out of place in a lounge act, or if you already liked Richard Marx before this, you'll enjoy this fine. I personally got more out of it since I have some experience in a jazz band. Otherwise, there's not much here that will convert you.

Favorite song is "Big Band Boogie" (with Kenny G)
Least favorite song is "Young at Heart" (with Rod Stewart)

The Kid LAROI - BEFORE I FORGET
60

I'm starting to find out that I don't really like R&B when men are the ones singing it. I liked one of the songs, and I enjoyed the Lithe feature, but other than that, there's not much here for me.

Favorite song is "A PERFECT WORLD"
Least favorite song is "5:21AM"

Fallstar - Sacred Mirrors
86

Really strong metalcore album that went completely under everyone's radar. I only heard about it because someone I follow on Bluesky recommended it to me, thinking I would like it.

Favorite song is either "Timebender & the Jet Engine", "Eternal Engine (Die Up)", or "Water House"
Least favorite song is "Screaming Through the Walls"

The Mothers of Invention - Freak Out!
79

This was my introduction to Frank Zappa's sound. I'm still not entirely sure what just happened, but I liked it enough to add the rest of their albums to my listen to later list.

Favorite song is "Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder"
Least favorite song is "It Can't Happen Here"

The Lemon Twigs - Look for Your Mind!
80

I went into this knowing that they were heavily influenced by '60s acts, but I wasn't prepared for just *how much* they were influenced by them. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Kinks... I can hear traces of all of them in here.

Favorite song is "Nothin' But You"
Least favorite song is "You're Still My Girl"

Gordon Lightfoot - Lightfoot!
77

It starts to drag after a while, but that's just how albums were made back then. I love the mix of folk and country. He's got a great voice.

Favorite song is "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face"
Least favorite song is "I'm Not Sayin'"

KNEECAP - FENIAN
87

What if Run the Jewels was Irish?

It's funny, if they had never gotten dropped from their label and then gotten sued for being pro-Palestine, I would never have even heard of these guys, and now they've dropped one of my favorite rap albums of the year so far.

Favorite song is either "Liars Tale" or "Irish Goodbye"
Least favorite song is "An Ra"

Tori Amos - In Times of Dragons
87

Absolutely breathtaking. Tori Amos is maybe one of the most underappreciated singer-songwriters ever, and this show off her talents in a stunning way.

Favorite song is either the title track or "23 Peaks"
Least favorite song is "Pyrite"

Kacey Musgraves - Middle of Nowhere
83

Of all of the country artists that my typically country music-phobic ass has listened to these past two years or so, I think Kacey Musgraves makes my favorite. I hope she keeps it up.

Favorite song is "Everybody Wants to Be a Cowboy"
Least favorite song is "Horses and Divorces"

Scatman John - Take Your Time
77

The Scatman's last album before his tragic passing, and it's the least good of his three LPs, but it's still a fun time.

Favorite song is "Ichi Ni San...Go"
Least favorite song is "The Chickadee Song"
