Various Artists - End of the Year : Red Heart / New Year : Black Heart - A Glowcord Compilation
76

Hi, I’m in this compilation so there’s a fairly obvious bias. But!! This shit goes dummy hard. Consistently engaging for its massive runtime and brings to light a lot of really talented individuals that the underground has to offer. To try to keep this as unbiased as possible rating wise, I’m just gonna put in the RYM average.

Settlers Creek - 4:4
74

average rating on rym

Hudson Mohawke - Satin Panthers
77

Funny sex EP is good

black midi - Hellfire
96

Current front runner for AOTY

Viagra Boys - Cave World

Various Artists - Minions: The Rise of Gru
69

funny number for funny yellow demons

Dedrick - Post
70

Giving myself a 70 as a tribute to the real one who gave it a 70 on RYM.

Merzbow - Pulse Demon
70

There are better noise albums than this but it’s still a classic for a reason.

John Powell - How to Train Your Dragon (Music From The Motion Picture)
82

In context of the movie this would be closer to the 95-98 range as far as ratings are concerned. But, like most soundtracks, it doesn’t hold up as well when listened to in an album context. Still “This Is Berk”, “Test Drive”, and “Romantic Flight” are some of the best modern classical pieces. And there are multiple moments of brilliance throughout that are further enhanced by the filmmaking present in the movie.

Kate Bush - Lionheart
75

700th rating!!! I actually heard this a while ago but forgot to log it.

Vince Guaraldi - A Charlie Brown Christmas
82

Dumb ass children are pitchy as fuck. Ruin the whole album, shut the fuck up kid.

Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch!
83

That is a lot of tri-tones

Arca - Arca
78

I think a lot of the ideas on this but I felt like it was executed better on kick iiii.

Herbie Hancock - Empyrean Isles
78

I was hoping the album would consistently be on the same level as The Egg but that’s not really the case. Still, it’s a classic for a reason.
