I really wanted to like this. Ghost is one of my personal favorite bands. Meliora is one of the best albums of all time, and Prequelle is one of my most streamed albums as well. But this is just so mid. The album sounds really shallow in comparison to their previous efforts. There’s also some of the worst songs in the Ghost catalogue on here. Like, what the actual fuck is “Twenties”. I really hope this album isn’t a sign of what’s to come for Ghost.
An overall improvement on IT.WAS.JUST.LIKE.U, longer songs, more inventive beats, and a more cohesive feel. However, I feel like the 10-minute closer "DEAD MALL" ran too long and didn't really justify its runtime.
Not every song here is for me, but there is such a large variety within the Tracklist that there is bound to be a song to resonate with every listener. “FMoPL” is that song for me, it goes so hard.

Original Score: 84

This isn’t bad but I can’t say I really enjoy it. It sounds incredibly un-cohesive, cheap, and unfinished. The vocals in general are mixed poorly, and none of these songs feel complete. Also some of the instrumentals are garbage. “Should’ve Been Me” instrumentally sounds like a Wesley Wills song. As an album it’s a jumbled mess of ideas that doesn’t really know what it wants to be. Still despite all of the issues I have with this album there is still ... read more
This was my first taste of Knocked Loose and God did it leave an impression. This Concept-EP follows our protagonist in a continuous downward spiral of guilt after his partner died in an avoidable car crash. The story itself is ominous and enthralling, playing out almost like an Edgar Allen Poe story. Musically the band created this claustrophobic and punishing soundscape with precise performances and compositions. There are also several interesting uses of samples that play into the narrative ... read more
