Glad I didn’t review/rate this when I heard it for the first time. God this is so good.
Some of the points come from the influence it’s had in the genre. Standing alone, it’s still a consistently entertaining rock album with some absolutely incredible songs.
There are some absolute classics on this album, but there is just so much and multiple tracks just feel like filler.
Honestly surprised. I thought this would be one of those albums that I respect more than actually enjoy. I knew of its immense influence in pop music, but the individual Beach Boys songs I’ve heard never really struck me as anything special. So when I listened to this I was surprised with the lush production and engaging performances (mostly vocally but the instrumental performances were good too). But what surprised me most was the lyricism. Now I’m not going to act like this is on ... read more
In this episode of albums I should’ve listened to earlier:
There is so much potential here and I’m really excited to hear her grow as an artist.
Not good at reviewing Jazz since for me it’s almost entirely subjective, I can’t say that a particular artist is better in a specific recording (although the drums go hard on this one). The only thing that strikes me is the compositions and this one is pretty great in that aspect.
I’ll use this recording as my overall rating for The Rite of Spring.
This soundtrack alone is a genuinely monumental listen.
Haven’t been listening to much new music lately. I’ve been working on my own music recently, but decided to finally give this a try and I am kinda sad I didn’t listen when it came out. Better than 2012-2017 imo. I like the more avant-grade and experimental soundscapes here. The sonic textures are much more varied and unique with this album. And the dark ambient outro is genuinely gorgeous. I love this album.
Yeah, this is a phenomenal film, but this soundtrack is truly stellar in its own way. I would happily listen to the soundtrack even if it weren't attached to the film. This has some really gorgeous ambient instrumentation throughout and whenever it strays away (In Motion, Mountain King) it doesn't stick out from the other tracks.
Bad Romance, Alejandro, and Telephone alone would make this at least a 70.
