Genuinely love this album. Was my go-to music during middle school and made even cooler by the fact that Logic is from my area in Maryland. Strong bars and INCREDIBLE production that introduced me to the idea of a concept album when I was first getting into music. Thanks Logic!
A lot more pop-focused then I thought but that makes sense. Really strong, fun songs that make me wish Metro would do a whole R&B album (with The Weeknd maybe...?)
070 Shake is soooooo cool. Haven't been this excited about an artist's sound since I first heard The Weeknd's stuff.
Not bad but a little uninspired. Their least experimental record yet but I like hearing more of Damon taking centerstage. "New Gold" is one of their best songs EVER though.
No real cohesion, just a set of some of the finest songs Damon has worked on so far. Every song on here is so great and the different genres all never feel too jarring - kind of like scrolling through the radio stations. A true return to form for Gorillaz that reminds me why I loved this band so much in the first place.
While the collection of wildly different sounds and genres mixed together on "Plastic Beach" in the end made that album so rewarding, here the same idea makes "Humanz" feel a bit bloated and uncohesive. But not as bad as people make it out to be, the highs on this album are phenomenal and I love the end-of-the-world party aesthetic.
Damon Albarn is one of the the most musically talented people I've ever heard.
That one album that everyone says is perfect and you're like "yeah sure whatever it probably doesn't hold up" and then it's just as good as the hype.
No bigger musical jumpscare then hearing the "Panda" beat on this for the first time.
There are some FANTASTIC sounds here that I feel really revealed big Tyler was about to become in the next couple years. The problem is there's also a few moments that just sound like he's just fucking with you and trying to get you to turn it off. But hey, that was OF era Tyler.
Damn idk what ya'll are talking about I love these loosies, they're such classic Drake.
My absolute favorite Weeknd album. So sonically rich and layered, it genuinely feels like being in a movie in some otherwordly place (or in this specific world Abel has crafted). Every song has such powerful emotional weight and they are fully fleshed out. The scope of his vision here is unmatched, and I had an in-depth experience listening to this album that I have had with very few other projects. This is what all full length albums should strive for, and I wish that others could see the ... read more
Damn it took me a while to actually sit down and write a review for all of Mac's discography, mostly because it's so hard to put into words how important him and his music was to me. Upon hearing of his passing when I was in high-school, I had only known him for some of his earlier songs and was at some level aware of "Self Care" because a friend of mine had mentioned it once or twice. So, I decided to go through and finally listen to his music in full - starting with this album. ... read more
