Imagine the kids in Mac Miller's high school hearing this for the first time like how do you go on knowing you'll never be as charming, creative or cool as that one guy who probably slept through every day of math class.
I've never wept harder than hearing this for the first time. A perfect ending to an incredible artist who was gone far too soon.
My favorite mixtape of all time and the album that solidified Mac as my personal favorite rapper ever. The way Mac infuses hip-hop, jazz, could rap and r&b into an HOUR AND A HALF record that DOESNT GET OLD had me starstruck. Incredibly dark but still widely hilarious, "Faces" is an album that could only be dreamt of by the once-in-a-lifetime talent that was Mac Miller.
Like singing to your ex-partner outside their house only to throw your guitar through their window at the end.
Hearing Mac Miller's voice for 0.5 seconds at the end of the song Thundercat made about his passing made me instantly fucking bawl.
I want this album on vinyl so bad but I hate that you have to buy both sides on separate discs.
Extremely different from anything Vince has put out before, but just as interesting. As opposed to the grimier instrumentals he utilised on "Summertime 06," his self titled project produced by Kenny Beats employs lighter sounds to contrast the darker and more personal lyrics. I feel like a lot of people won't enjoy this one as much as his normal style but I think it's a an incredibly engaging listen.
It's easy for many to call this their favorite alternative album because of how widely known and accessible it is... but for good reason. This album is an instant masterpiece.
Worth the wait, this thing is so dense and layered I could listen to it 151 times and catch something new every time.
One of the most exciting hip-hop debuts I had ever heard, genuinely reignited my love for the genre when I first heard it.
The darkest of the trilogy and probably the most cohesive. Gets better every time I listen through again.
Like that last scene in Blade Runner 2049 where Ryan Gosling is just lying on the steps, dying as it snows.
STAINS is the most underrated songs ever made and I'll stand by that until I die.
You ever hear one of those albums that just makes you appreciate life and want to be a better person? Yeah.
An incredible blend of numerous genres that always feels complete, satisfying and wildly original. The first Denzel album I heard is still his best in my opinion and a defining moment in southern trap.
