I swear if Monstercat falls into the same Brazilian Phonk (or Brazilian Funk, whatever the fuck it's called) shithole that NCS has I'm going to lose it
And no hate to the artist btw, I just don't like this.
I mean it's not THAT bad. I used to think it was fine, but it's just grown off me more and more. Especially with those vocals, dear lord...
The perfect blend of old school 2010's melodub and modern day melodub. I could totally picture this being a song released on NCS in the early 2010's, and I love it.
Half assed my ass.
I gotta admit, I was skeptical about this album at first. Not because I thought it'd be bad, but because it hasn't been that long since VR's last album, Stealing Fire. And the singles, while pretty amazing, didn't really scream "album" to me. What I mean by that is, they felt more like stand alone songs rather than songs meant to be played one after the other in a typical album format, with a narrative or goal. Basically, I kinda just thought ... read more
10/10 cover art holy shit
I'm a bit disappointed because it doesn't sound like Roy had that much influence here, but other than that, it's just your standard Bad Computer song. Insane production quality, catchy melody, and awesome sound design. Although, that one midsection is just ear rape.
The drops aren't even that bad, it's the sampled vocals that are the problem here. Like, holy shit, Whales really just said, "Hey, what if I took the vocals of this really popular early 2010's pop song, sapped them of any semblance of catchiness, and just threw them into this unfinished generic riddim song?".
I'm sorry for being so rude and negative, but why.
Yes, I'm reviewing this before I review Sunk Cost Fallacy. But I really want to talk about this EP.
Stanley Stevenson-Byrne, a.k.a. Fox Stevenson, is an artist I never really got into until last year. Before that, I kinda just saw him as another popular EDM artist most people were fond of. But when he started the rollout for his second album last year, I decided to listen to the singles, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Every lyric flowing perfectly into the next, every beat ... read more

Sad to say, I didn't really like this one. I understand the whole experimental vibe, but the song really just sounds like a single noise repeating for 7 minutes, except said noise is slightly changes every 30 or so seconds. Sounds more like something for a horror game OST then it does a full fledged song. That being said, the atmosphere of this song is pretty good. Definitely a lot of potential here.
The drops are amazing, but the vocals really bring this song down for me. Still one of the best songs NCS has released this year.
Honestly, this is probably the definitive Fox Stevenson song. Everything that makes Stan's style great is in this song- the catchiness, production, lyricism, everything here just screams "Fox Stevenson" in the best way possible. The lead in the drops is damn near perfect, the vocals flow perfectly, and the lyrics... well I wouldn't call them "deep", but they are relatable. Sometimes you really do just feel the urge to stop giving a shit about everything and ... read more
Still RetroVision's best song by miles. So simple, yet so effectively catchy, and with amazing production for its time!
One of the only good songs NCS has released in months. And color bass RetroVision goes hard as fuck, by the way.
