Mazare - The Sound
100

The NCS debut of Mazare and Fluorescents is simply awesome. Not much more to say, I love this.

Edit: 96 -> 100. This grew on me like crazy. I fucking love Rocktronic.

Bossfight - Agony District
95

It was this close to being perfect. Then you had to go and add RAWSTYLE OF ALL GENRES. Granted it's not nearly as bad is other Rawstyle I've heard, but still. I don't like Rawstyle. And Fake is probably the best Rawstyle song I've ever heard on top of that.

Welcome to an EP that is as brutal as it's name. It truly is marvelous how Bossfight went from happy upbeat Chiptune to face melting Dubstep, but I guess that's what he wanted after the other 2 members of the ... read more

Virtual Riot - What U Got
100

This has potential to become a 100 for me. VR and Viper somehow manage to make a song that is both chill and hard hitting at the same time, and I love it. The basslines, the vocal sample, everything just works. Trap has been so damn good lately.

Edit: 97 - 100. What'd I tell ya?

RetroVision - Puzzle (2024 Edit)
100

His beats are this fire?

A phenomenal remix of the original version, it integrates his newer style into the original song flawlessly. Best remix of 2024, hands down. This shit slaps harder than a spanking.

AJR - World's Smallest Violin
91

Fuck it I love this

RIOT - Metalicious
85

It's like a slightly weaker version of Overkill. Then again, a slightly weaker version of Overkill is still really fucking strong. I'm not too sure how I feel about those vocals, but everything else is awesome.

Edit: 96 -> 85

youth® - snake eyes
84

Hot take: This is a great EP. youth delivers a set of short, catchy tracks that really shine when you listen to the full EP from start to finish. There really isn't much to say except that this is great. The EP has a handful of different genres it bounces around while staying consistent in tone and sound and executing those genres in a great way too. Please listen to this EP, it's a short listen and something to just vibe to whenever.

Best: tell me why
Worst: stuckinmyhead!

Michael Clifford - kill me for always
88

Wish it had a little more going on, but hey, It's still great nonetheless. Great vocals, good production, just a great song from these two. Porter is always a win.

acloudyskye - To tell you the truth
100

Just a vibe and a half. skye really excels at this indie rock, he may be my gateway into listening to other popular indie rock artists cause he's just so damn good at it. Vocals are phenomenal, the distorted guitar is always a treat, just... yes.

Edited rating: 97 -> 100

SadBois - Need You Again
100

Now, listen. If you're keeping up to date with my reviews, you're probably saying, "ANOTHER 100 Doom? You're just handing these things out like candy, jeez." But, this is different. There have been some pretty damn good songs this year. Ever since I've started trying to review, rate, and rank music, I have found it hard to choose one definitive "best" or "favorite" song of anything, whether it be an EP, album, complimation, month, or year. Even ... read more

youth® - tell me why
93

This song is a perfect reason why keeping in touch with what songs record labels like NCS and Monstercat are signing is a great way to find new artists you've never heard of. youth makes an amazing Electro House track that's very reminiscent of No Mana that I can definitely fuck with. Simple, but amazing. Very interested in the upcoming EP now.

youth® - stuckinmyhead!
71

Short, but definitely sweet. Pretty nice Hyperpop, excited to see where this EP goes.

Justin OH - Ghost Of Me
98

I seriously wonder how many Monstercat fans lost their minds when this song was announced. This is the first Justin OH song I've listened to, and I am VERY interested in what his album is like now. An amazing Melodub/Brostep fusion, with great vocals and satisfying as all hell sound design makes this the best track NCS has released this month by far.

Halvorsen - Colorblind
100

Sorry I've been inactive for the last week and a half, I was sort of busy having the time of my life. Now that I'm back, I can glaze these two even more! Also, kidsgonemad! and Nurture reviews will be coming soon, then I will get some more albums out of the way.

Netrum might just have one of the most unique styles if not THE most unique style of Dubstep out there. Seriously, now that I think about it, I have never really heard anyone do Dubstep like Netrum does. I really wish ... read more

Fox Stevenson - Memories
100

Being completely honest here.... yeah this rules. Stan's vocals are as amazing as ever, and the synth lead is golden, and.. oh I'm writing this at 12:30 A.M. just go listen to the song yourself

Alan Walker - Fade
95

The hell you guys on about? This, this right here, this is a certified fucking hood classic. A staple of 2010's EDM and YouTube, anyone who was on YouTube back in the 2010's has probably heard this. Everything about this song is iconic, and the success of this song and the NCS label as a whole really shows the impact Avicii and deadmau5 had on music. Avicii pioneered the Festival Progressive House/Commercial House sound, which laid the groundwork for artists like Martin Garrix, Tobu, ... read more

Alan Walker - Me, Myself, and The Night
70

While being a good song, I was expecting a bit more out of this. It reminds me of some of NIVIRO's recent stuff which I'm not too big on (Dancefloor Dreamer specifically), and there isn't too much going on in the drops and the vocals are kind of weak. That being said, this still is a fun euro-trance song from Alan here! It would be great to see him make more Commercial House/Electro House though.

Riot Ten - Threats
41

If you removed the "T" in "Threats" and replaced it with a "2" and put the "r" in "Threats" between the "a" and "t" and replaced the "Riot Te " in "Riot Ten " with a "K" and replaced the "& Versa" in "& Versa" with a "ock2", then I might have given this a 93

Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe!
66

I haven't listened to it on my own time, but I've heard it enough on the radio. Just a pretty decent pop song, not much else about it honestly.

Virtual Riot - Damage
78

While it is a good song, Shaq's rapping could use some work. The first drop is a bit underwhelming, but the rest of the song is kinda fire. That Dubstep switch up was also great.

"@masivnipero "I dislike this album and it sounds uncomfortable for me to listen to." While I do disagree with him just calling the album slop, to say he's racist or ignorant just because he dislikes it is genuinely so stupid. As for what you said about this being "non-critique", I often find it hard to actually go in depth to something I don't like. 2/2"
On jackuw 🌿's review of Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
"@masivnipero So it's racist for someone to dislike hip-hop? Also, it's all a matter of opinion when it comes to art. jackuw obviously doesn't relate to this album's core themes, so it makes sense for them to not be "nourished" by this album. I personally dislike most hip-hop because the vocals on most modern hip-hop songs just feel like an afterthought. 90% of the production and vocals feel like they came from two entirely different songs and don't match with each other in the slightest. But back to my original point, saying this review is racist simply because they don't like an album is just dumb. There isn't anything here that even remotely hints at jackuw being racist, he basically just says 1/2"
