TheFatRat - Out Of The Rain
97

Pretty amazing start to the upcoming album. Shiah's vocals here are some of his best, and I love the watery production complimenting the whole rain theme. The Trap drop at the end is a surprise, but oh boy is it a welcome one. The songs ending sounds like a perfect end to an album opener, the slow close out really hinting at what's to come. Banger all around :)

The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This
90

The Chainsmokers might be the most over-hated artists I've seen. Seriously, what the hell did they do to you? This is a great Future Bass song, with some nice flowing lyrics and good drops. Coldplay really adds a lot to this song, that guitar riff in the last drop is pure gold. Great song, great vocals, insanely over-hated imo.

This is all my opinion.

Grant - Constellations
100

HE CAN'T MISS I FUCKING SWEAR

Fox Stevenson - Road To Nothing
100

Yeah, I just got into Fox's music recently and I'm hyped for this album now. The synths in the drops remind me of Elektronomia, the carefree off-drops with Fox's vocals make an amazing vibe, and the lyrics contribute to that atmosphere. Can't wait for the album!

Edit: 98 > 100. This grew on me a lot.

TheFatRat - Genius
89

He's transcended the meaning of music to the point where he doesn't even know what genre his own song is...
Great song from TheFatRat here, really hope that album finally comes out soon. Shiah's vocals are definitely great, the production is also great, and provides some interesting context for the greater story TheFatRat is telling with not just this album, but all of his music. It's not the best of the songs for this album that have been released so far, but it's ... read more

RIOT - Overkill
100

While it isn't my favorite song from them, it still is probably the most epic song I've ever heard, and one of the best executed songs I've ever heard. I don't even know what to say, just... awesome.

Edit: Actually, it is my favorite song from them now, and the best dubstep song ever made in my opinion.

Grant - Wishes
95

Grant's first project. And yes, FIRST project, not only project. He released a collab album with Draper recently, which no one seems to be talking about. It certainly isn't in Grant's style, and while I haven't heard any of Draper's songs, I don't think it fits his style either. Go check it out and tell me if it's good or not, k?

Anyway, enough about that, this is an EP that IS in Grant's style, so let me get started! Wishes is a pretty fun collection of ... read more

Tobu - Turn It Up
95

Never knew Tobu could get this heavy...
So, Tobu makes a Trap/Dubstep song, and it's amazing? Not something many people expected, but hey, this is Tobu we're talking about. The entire song gives off a wild west vibe for me, and it works very well. The guitars and flute/harmonica in the off drops sound great, giving the song a mysterious, almost kinda orchestral vibe. Then the build up kicks in, and boom. Heavy Trap. And it sounds awesome. The growls work really well paired with the ... read more

Tobu - Return to the Wild
100

Yes.
This song is beautiful, from Micheal Shynes' vocals to the the guitars to the drops, it really shows Tobu's talent as an artist, and Micheal Shynes' talent as well. The first drop is a bit short, but that doesn't really matter. This song is still amazing regardless. I love everything about it, and that won't change. Thank you Tobu, for those amazing piano melodies and guitar strings. Thank you Micheal Shynes, for your beautiful vocals. Thank you.

RIOT - Jackknife
100

Being 100% honest, this is my favorite Dubstep song. Of all time. Obviously this doesn't carry the same epic feel as Overkill, but frankly, it doesn't matter here. The rock elements in both songs are awesome. The little laugh before the drops in this song is NASTY. That gritty lead may turn some people off, but I love it. And that Hardcore drop? Even better than the one in Overkill. RIOT love their Hardcore drops, and boy that's a pretty damn good thing because it adds to their ... read more

RIOT - Hurricane
93

So excited for the upcoming album, just another banger from RIOT here. I love the fast paced melodies and vocal samples, the Hardcore drop at the end was also a banger. Seriously, RIOT is really good at incorporating Hardcore into Dubstep.

Whales - Rise
38

This is obviously the best song of the year this far, maybe even the best song of all time. Bands like The Beatles wish they could make music this good. Kendrick Lamar, Porter Robinson, Tristam, acloudyskye, Fox Stevenson, Daft Punk, Grant, Skrillex, Eminem, Taylor Swift, Riot Ten, none of them can compare to the genius of this song. The loud noises in the drop are a perfect societal commentary on how people choose to focus on the more negative attributes of life, completely ignoring the ... read more

Teminite - Slash
100

It's awesome. Enough said.

Teminite - Danger
100

THEY CAN'T MISS. Definitely their best collab so far. The hardcore drop at the end is awesome as fuck, with the Dubstep growls being turned into a faster paced drop that will get you jumping in seconds. The vocal samples are super fun, and the normal dubstep drops are all head bangers. It isn't too loud or obnoxious and sounds perfect. Easily their best collab so far, and thats a pretty damn high bar to top.

Tobu - Sugar
69

Gonna be honest, Tobu's debut album is good, but it still doesn't really hit it for me. It's good in more areas than it is bad, but some songs on it weigh it down a bit. It's funny, cause as far as I know, most of the songs on this album aren't in Tobu's style at the time of this release, yet they're still distinctly Tobu. As for the good songs, my favorites would probably be C4, Afraid of Love, Let It Be Now, and I Feel Lighter. C4 is such a banger, and ... read more

Laszlo - Interstellar
100

In my opinion, Laszlo is one of the best EDM artists ever. This track would be perfect for an album opener, with the one instrument beginning transitioning into a more full song with the kicks coming and vocal chops coming in. Then it builds up into a drop that is perfect. Simply amazing, one of Laszlo's best.

Laszlo - Imaginary Friends
100

No words in the entire song yet it's enough to make a grown man cry

EDEN - Chasing Ghosts
100

Just listened to this, might be one of the best Melodic Dubstep songs of all time. Made almost 11 years ago, yet doesn't sound "outdated" in the slightest. EDEN, please make more EDM, you are really fucking good at it.

Tobu - Perpetuo
100

My (previous) favorite album ever, along with RIOT's Dogma Resistance. This may change in the future, because I haven't listened to that many full albums. That being said, this album is just House Heaven. Every song on here is a bop. It really shows how diverse of an artist Tobu is. He can stay true to his original Commercial House style, while also trying something completely new. This album is a testament to that, and it fucking bangs.

The groovy Electro synths work so well here, ... read more

Tristam - Before We Fade
100

You know, I really should check out Tristam's album (will get to it.... eventually)

Perfect synthpop. Nothing more to say. Vocal chops? Used perfectly. That synth switch-up at the end? Amazing. Tristam's vocals are great throughout the entire song, with great production to back. First heard this man's music because of JSAB, and that was a Glitch Hop song that kinda grew off me. It seems he really excels at emotional Future Bass and pop (like another Monstercat artist I know). ... read more

"@masivnipero "I dislike this album and it sounds uncomfortable for me to listen to." While I do disagree with him just calling the album slop, to say he's racist or ignorant just because he dislikes it is genuinely so stupid. As for what you said about this being "non-critique", I often find it hard to actually go in depth to something I don't like. 2/2"
On jackuw 🌿's review of Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
"@masivnipero So it's racist for someone to dislike hip-hop? Also, it's all a matter of opinion when it comes to art. jackuw obviously doesn't relate to this album's core themes, so it makes sense for them to not be "nourished" by this album. I personally dislike most hip-hop because the vocals on most modern hip-hop songs just feel like an afterthought. 90% of the production and vocals feel like they came from two entirely different songs and don't match with each other in the slightest. But back to my original point, saying this review is racist simply because they don't like an album is just dumb. There isn't anything here that even remotely hints at jackuw being racist, he basically just says 1/2"
