Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!!! FEMME FATALE 2!!!! HOLY SHIT!!! Never could I have seen such a thing coming. Femme Fatale was my favorite album of last year, with its stunning vocal performances, beautiful production, and flustering lyricism! If something could top Femme Fatale, it’s Femme Fatale Vol. 2! With this first single, we get just a sample of what we could hear on this brand new project, with an almost rockier sound than Femme Fatale…all I’m gonna say, I’m ... read more
Thee Oh Sees, like many other on June 5th, for some very odd reason, drop a surprise album! Will this be better than their disappointing last record or their pretty good EP from earlier this year.
We open with the title track, a 9 minute track, that sounds like a DND adventure soundtrack of sorts, but if it rocked harder. Like can you see where I’m coming from? The floating somewhat angelic, yet deceiving vocals sound like something directly out of a fantasy. It’s a great track! ... read more
After enjoying Fantasia so much and somehow not listening to this in the lead up to the release of this album, I decided to finally listen to Slift’s sophomore effort, Ilion.
The album, like every other Slift album, opens with the title track. It’s heavy, it’s loud, and it has a post-metal vibe that I can really enjoy…however, I do find the track to be a bit too long. It does rock, don’t get me wrong, but it does feel a bit too long. It’s still great! Nihm ... read more
Converge is back, again! Yes! For the second time this year, they’re releasing new music! Their first album from earlier this year is still amongst my favorites of the year so far, and when the announcement of a second album came, I was so hyped!
The album opens in a great way with Slip The Noose! It’s a frantic, punchy, loud, angry song! It’s great! Doom in Bloom, the second single for this project, and my favorite single from the rollout, is an excellent song! Just purely ... read more
From the band that brought you the brilliant Ummon, comes this brand new album, Fantasia! Definitely one of my higher anticipated albums for the rest of the year in this one!
The title track opens the album and in a gloriously heavy way! Loud shrieking from Jean Fossat accompanies a beautiful synthy odyssey of a nine minute opener! The title track directly segues into Corrupted Sky which is another excellent jammer of a track! It just rules! The Village is another excellent jammer! Storm of ... read more
My first Vince Staples record! Yes! My very first Vince Staples record! I’ve heard him on features before and he’s a brilliant lyricist. Can’t wait to see what he brings to the table!
Blackberry Marmalade, the leading single to this album, is genuinely one of my favorite hip hop songs of the year so far! I love the flow that Vince has on here and it has possibly the catchiest chorus of the year with the frantic “Promise me you won’t gun me down”. Saying ... read more
As a person who saw this special the night it dropped, had the album spinning on repeat the whole summer after the special came out, and now owns the deluxe box set vinyl of the album, I can with confidence say, that this might be the greatest comedy album I’ve ever heard. It’s a perfect look at what 2020 was like. A desolate, scary, and most of all, depressing time in my life. What Bo shows here is truly a knack for songwriting, that of which we hadn’t seen from him before. ... read more
Is this potentially the most dystopian 1984 ass shit I’ve ever heard?…not far off
Titanium isn’t bulletproof unless we’re discussing stronger forms of titanium, but even that is very limited in its endurance to a bullet. Not scientifically accurate lyrics, 0

TennisThom, you better get to studying!
Boards Of Canada! Famous IDM, downtempo, hauntology group Boards of Canada returns with their first record in over a decade and with this brand new albums comes an exquisite amount of excitement. I’ve never really listened to a lot of Boards, not because I haven’t been interested in them, but I feel like their music requires a certain place and time for me. I know for most, they’re something that can just casually be spun, with me, it ... read more
There’s always a standout when it comes to Xiu Xiu albums with me. With Knife Play, it’s Tonite and Today. With A Promise, it’s Fast Car! With this one, it’s absolutely and undeniably Clowne Towne for me! That song is terrific! This album as a whole though is brilliant! Xiu Xiu hasn’t made a single disappointing album that I’ve heard so far! It’s all been brilliant so far. This album continues the trend of bleak, depressing, disturbing music, touching ... read more
After releasing “So Much Country ‘Til We Get There” I was wondering what their follow up would be. I was hoping for a debut album, but I didn’t know we were getting it this soon! This is so exciting!!! I thought So Much Country was a very great display of ability from the up and coming indie rock band! This single is excellent! It’s just an excellent little indie rock cut that works for me!
It’s pretty cool to see Vince delving into a somewhat rarely seen subgenre of hip hop in rap rock. This is an excellent slower cut that works in favor of this upcoming album as much as Blackberry Marmalade was. It may be slower than Blackberry Marmalade, but its production is still great and the lyrics are still excellent! This is quickly becoming one of my highest anticipated albums for the rest of the year so far!
This is definitely better than Rock Music, but there’s something that Rock Music does better than this, and that’s be interesting. This is just boring to me. This is better than Rock Music, but it’s pretty bland and pretty boring.
