Bon Iver - SABLE, fABLE
98

MY GOAT IS BACK, LETS FUCKING GOOOO!!!

New Bon Iver studio album after like 6 years, and im glad to say that i adored it. Not gonna lie, it sucks a bit that they just released like, most of the singles before the album actually dropped, but who am i to judge. This record is such a joy to listen to, especially with the transition from Sable to Fable, feels like im leaving the infamous Justin Vernon cabin to step into the beautiful outside world.

The production is majestic on here, really feels ... read more

Björk - Post

Album swap with @batmanslilguy

Finally returning to more Björk stuff, and it feels great to say that this is her best project so far, and it will be tough to beat in the future (if i ever decide to listen to more of her albums). This album perfectly combines the weird shit Björk is well known for doing and more of a pop sound. It really is a rollercoaster going through it all, and every track feels unique.

The production is absolute perfection. Its Oh So Quiet is genuinely an insane ... read more

Playboi Carti - MUSIC
70

This fucker finally decided to drop after what, 5 years? Anyways, the album was pretty nice overall, but was it really neccessary for it to be 30 songs long??? Some tracks feel like they pass by, which have cool beats, but for Carti not to have a big presence in them.

The production on this album is mostly pretty fun, and i like the more aggressive sounding beats on here. Carti himself is mostly just kinda there to fill out the beat, nothing that interesting, and at random points he just ... read more

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
81

As much as this album gets praised, it feels kinda... disappointing. Sure, it has some amazing peaks, but overall the album feels a bit tedious at times. Still, i found this album pretty good overall, even with some sluggish moments in between.

The production is really different compared to the rest of their discography up until then. Has some great climaxes, like i said, but the drone parts either work or just kinda bore me at some moments.

Best track: either Animus or I Was a Prisoner in ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - GNX
86

Fuck, didnt expect Kendrick dropping today. This album is pretty simple, but great at the same time. The first 2 tracks didnt really pull me into the album, but after that it was a smooth ride through the album.

The production is, like i said, really simple and sometimes really minimalistic like on Wacced out Murals. Kendricks voice really stands out on here, he sounds fucking amazing on this, especially when he screams "MUSTAAARRRRDDDD!" on TV off.

Best track: either Reincarnated ... read more

Mount Eerie - Night Palace
72

Honestly, expected a bit better from this album. It really has a mix of amazing shit and boring tracks that, in my opinion, serve no purpose, specifically those short 1-2 minute ones. On the other hand, the longer tracks feel like great emotional peaks, and even the spoken word part that is Demolition gets you so invested into it.

The instrumentals are alright. Theyre either soft folky instrumentals or just noisy as fuck, which i wish had more kick to them. Phil's voice also feels weak, ... read more

Lil Uzi Vert - Eternal Atake 2
38

After The Pink Tape, which i quite enjoyed, Uzi drops a sequel to Eternal Atake, which is BORING AS FUCK. Instead of experimenting more like he did on Pink Tape, he took it all safe and made a quick cash grab that will be forgotten in the next 2 days. After listening, i genuinely forgot most of the songs instantly.

The production feels like nothing. They sound like they were put together in 3 minutes on Fl Studio. Theres basically no risks taken, and the songs feel like they were made to waste ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA

NEW TYLER EVERYBODY!
I honestly expected from this album to be more experimental, but i dont mind this outcome. The album is great, feels like Igor on steroids. Again, i like the more experimental shit this album does, and the more R&B centered songs kinda drag on on some moments, but i still like those.

The production is either fucking insane or really relaxing. Comparing again, but this feels like if Igor and Cherry Bomb had a child. Tylers vocals are also pitched quite a lot here, and i ... read more

Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
99

It was always hard for me to start any long album, and SITKOL was no exception. But even with its lenght, this album manages to blow my mind and leave me pondering "how the fuck is this so consistent?". I feel like Stevie just mastered the art of long albums, which is a rare feat coming from me.

The production is really beautiful, soulful and relaxing. It just transports you into a new world, its amazing. Stevie's voice is also just great, really fits onto every instrumental. ... read more

Bon Iver - SABLE,
95

NEW ALBUM, i mean EP, damn.

I adored this EP, but still kinda disappointed that it wasnt longer, It just kinda finished too quickly. With only 3 tracks to its name (not counting '...') it couldve evolved into something more. But thats basically my only complaint, cause the songs themselves are amazing. It feels like Justin has returned to his cabin from For Emma, Forever Ago.

The production, like i said, returns to its older roots from his/their first 2 albums. Has really simple ... read more

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "NO TITLE AS OF 13 FEBRUARY 2024 28,340 DEAD"
73

GYBE returns, and im not that mind blown like everybody else! The album has a great start, the first 2 tracks are the best on the album, but the further this album goes it kinda drags me out of it. Thats that effect i have after listening to virtually every GYBE album: it sounds incredible, but i get bored.

The production has really good moments, but again, kinda drags on with its drone sound. And the drone parts should work with the build up, but i dont know why, but it doesnt stick that much ... read more

Geordie Greep - The New Sound
84

Geordie Greep's first solo project is quite interesting. The albums quite good, but it has consistency problems at some points, mainly in the middle section with Through a War and Bongo Season.

The production is like the best part of the album. The jazz rock really makes every moment feel impactful, even with weird ass lyrics. Speaking of, the lyrics on this are quite wacky and even... quite concerning at times. The vocals are also quite unique, but they get kinda repetitive as the album ... read more

Sampha - Lahai (Deluxe)
99

(Only rating the deluxe tracks)

I genuinely cant believe that these tracks were left off of the original. Like, i understand the 2.0s, but Re-Entry deserves the spot, my god. This is genuine perfection, not even lying. Everything feels so smooth flowing, its insane.

Similar to the previous record, the production is absolutely beautiful. I cant put into words how much i love them. Also, Samphaas vocals are magnificent, like always.

Best track: either Dancing Circles 2.0 or Re-Entry

The Avalanches - Since I Left You
95

First time listening to the Avalanches, and this is genuinely a beautiful album. It really keeps you in that relaxing vibe while being so detailed with samples, it truly is something special. The title track is also a flawless masterpiece.

The production is filled with different samples mashed in together almost perfectly. The shorter tracks maybe slightly drag down the album, but not by much cause they dont pull me out of the album. Also, i wont talk about the Plunderphonics genre war here on ... read more

Bon Iver - S P E Y S I D E

BON IVER DROPPING, WERE SO BACK!!!
The newest single from Bon Iver really returns to their classic Indie Folk sound we all know and love. Its just perfect, what can i say? Justin's voice still feels powerful and the instrumentals feel just as good as they used to.

Ween - La Cucaracha
68

Its hard to pinpoint my feelings towards this record. The last project from Ween is... kinda disappointing, especially coming from a HUGE Ween fan. Most of the tracks dont feel Ween-like, and just come off as sterile and uninteresting. The only song on this i would truly call Ween-like is Woman and Man.

The production is both strange and uninteresting most of the time, but stuff like Your Party works really well, even if it doesnt feel like a Ween song. The vocals also feel kinda weak, ... read more

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There
74

Yeah, this album isnt as good as people make it out to be. Sure, it has great songs like The Place Where He Inserted The Blade, but some songs feel a bit like... nothing? Like, Basketball Shoes has a great sound, but the build up doesnt work at all imo.

The instrumentals are pretty great in some moments, and in some they are just kinda alright, nothing much else. The vocalist also doesnt really do much for me, and the British accent doesnt help much.

Best track: either The Place Where He ... read more

Casiopea - Casiopea
86

This album really reminds me of the Mario Kart soundtracks, and i love it. It has some REALLY great fast paced moments, and imo the last 2 tracks dont really reach the level of the previous ones. Also, i prefer the cover of the reissue more than this one, just fits the music better imo.

The instrumentals are just great Jazz Fusion with even elements of Funk in it. There are a few Japanese vocals in some songs like on Dream Hill, which dont really fit the record imo, but they dont ruin it ... read more

Aphex Twin - ...I Care Because You Do
77

Continuing Aphex Twin, and this is so far his weakest project. Its still not without its amazing highlights, like the first track and, of course, Alberto Balsalm, but it also has some annoying ones like the now iconic Ventolin.

The production is... quite different on this one. It removes most of the ambient sounds of the previous record and adds in Acid Techno elements, which work well at times.

Best track: either Acrid Avid Jam Shred or Alberto Balsalm
Worst track: Ventolin

Swans - The Great Annihilator
86

Yeah, THIS is what i wanted from Swans. It really feels like a step-up to their Gothic Rock style from Children of God, while still feeling really refreshing and interesting. It also doesnt drag, which is a huge plus for me.

The production, yet again, is mostly Gothic Rock with a few new tweaks they added, and they really made it feel seperate from the stuff before. And Giras voice doesnt make me want to rip my ears off, and hes mostly solid here.

Best track: either I Am The Sun or Warm
