This record is so consistent in many ways - flow, grandness, vibe. One of the better post grunge records to come out since over a decade!
Paycheck, Apples & Oranges and Superinlove are the theme songs for my imaginary Tony Hawks game that takes place in my home town.
Tristan manages to capture melancholy in a way that I have rarely experienced. Stunning chord progressions, beautiful vocals and such a vivid songwriting that simply speaks volumes . An incredible record.
First leg of the ep is just great. Great flow between Centipede, On Drugs and Sand on the Beach. After that the record falls a bit off for me, especially with FSU, which feels too forced edge for me.
I still got three great standalone tracks out of this collection, but as a coherent piece, it falls a bit short.
This record is just so refreshing from start to finish.
From the great opener Dumbest Girl Alive with a great build up, a hard hitting drop and the harsh bass and snares to 757 with its hyperesque instrumental and fun vocal effects the record solidifies with the anthemic Hollywood Baby. Detouring into borderline silly, yet still funny, territory with songs like Frog on the Floor and I Got My Teeth Removed, the duo also showcases that they approach music in a way that doesn't take itself too ... read more
A nearly flawless first half of the record, that loses a bit of its momentum in the latter half. Jaded might be one of her best songs up to this day for me.
Their evolution really shows on this record - a more mature and ever more innovative record
Overall a very consistent sound, which, at points, feels a bit too samey
Some neat stylistic blending here, but sometimes the production doesn't hold up to her vocal performances.
Very diverse patterns of soundscapes, melodies and textures, but sometimes I miss a clear thread that runs through the project
Every Song almost feels like an EP on its own - with stunningly beautiful melodies, progressions and textures, each and every track tells its own musical story. From the beautiful opener Polaris, with its mellow guitar play, moving into its crushing latter part, to tracks like Sketchbook, Imagination and the breathtakingly gorgeous After the Magic - I cannot praise the perfectly executed mix of shoegaze, dreampop (and sometimes even electronic/hyperpop) and art rock enough. Clearly a very early ... read more
One of the biggest surprises for me this year so far - a great, coherent, melodic and impressive record through and through.
Extremely strong opener and closer of this album, but the middle parts also offer a lot
Really like the production on this album and most songs are really catchy
