Benny G - When You Know You Know
68

not somthing i’d listen to again, but it wasn’t bad. he’s got a nice voice and every song has a good instrumental, i could see this guy becoming really popular, even though he’s got a decent following of right now.

Willie Nelson - Dream Chaser
78

man this stuff got me emotional, it really feels like old willie, and call me crazy but i think his voice at 93 is amazing. it’s unbelievable how much work a man who has put out 102 and counting albums is putting into his music at this point in his career. you’ve got a george jones cover, and a bob dylan co written song, i mean cmon who is doing it like willie at his age, nobody, and i highly doubt anybody ever will be able to. i did not expect much out of this album, but i sure was ... read more

Obed Padilla - RODEO CLOWN - ACT l
63

cool summer vibes, very catchy, even a cool ass guitar solo on the first track, even incorporates those mexican roots, cool EP. the only problem for me is that it’s not really for me, but if it grew on me, i’d like it a lot.

Joshua Ray Walker - Ain't Dead Yet
62

i’m not a joshua ray walker fan at all, but i wouldn’t say his music is bad at all. this album feels very sad considering songs like “Stepping Stones” talking about his time in the hospital with colon cancer. he has a great story throughout the album about these troubles and the things he’s learned in life, but for me personally, it’s not for me. i do appreciate his work on this album though, and he seems like a great guy.

Freddie Gibbs - RBT
70

when freddie raps on beats like “Immigrants”, it’s one of my favorite sounds he has, it’s so simple but for example “Wolverine” is one of my favorite songs from him, and it’s very similar to “Immigrants”. freddie had a great lyrical performance as expected, but besides “Immigrants”, i don’t feel like the beats were hitting at all, especially for freddie standards

Western Addiction - Psychedelic Munitions
65

decently solid album, i wish it had guitar solos but unfortunately every song was usually under 2 minutes. i felt it was a little repetitive too and at some points the vocals seemed slightly annoying. but other than that it is a cool album that just wasn’t anything special but still enjoyable.

G.O.D - Gangsters On Drugs
50

honestly, as low quality as this album is, i kinda liked it. for some reason it was very quiet and needs major fixes on the mixing, but it was a cool and enjoyable album.

Deathtape - A New Spot To Bleed From
32

yeah no, i did not think this was very good at all.. the vocals are bad and that snare sound on top of horribly mixed loud insturmentals is not the move for me. i know it’s part of the new wave of music, but it’s not good, it’s just loud sounds. now, if they did something like “In Front of the Gun” on here (which brought the score up a decent amount) that’s somthing that’s much more enjoyable.

Soulfly - Primitive
78

this album was quite the experience, mixing brazilian roots with nu metal is not somthing i expected to hear, even though i probably should have. i did not expect rapping either on “In Memory Of…” either but they were going crazy on that as well, unfortunately i have heard much better nu metal albums. there are some amazing songs on here like obviously “Jumpdaf*Ckup” and “Pain” but it does get to a point with nu metal where it’s too repetitive ... read more

Entombed - Wolverine Blues

not a death metal fan, but it’s recently been growing on me, and entombed is a big part of it, these dudes are so good. i’m not sure the exact metal sub genre of this album, but whatever it is, i need to listen to more, i really like it. the vocals aren’t over the top harsh at all, the riffs are outstanding and so is the drum work, and it did not get boring. but my only problem here is the vocals have no flow at all it just sounds like he’s talking and screaming, which ... read more

Texas Tornados - Texas Tornados

texas roots and mexican roots are meant to be put together in music, texas tornados did that perfectly here.

everytimeisleepidreamofwhatcouldhavebeen - long meaningful abbreviations

the work ethic everytimeisleepidreamofwhatcouldhavebeen is unmatched by anyone else in the industry, this man is the greatest to ever do it. it was an honor to co produce this album of the decade with the suggestion of horns on “music’s savior” featuring the great 1piecemcnugget. great work 😁

Freddy Fender - Before the Next Teardrop Falls
80

i love this album, but sometimes i can’t tell if i like his voice. on songs like “cajun stomp” and “i love my ranch grande” it without a doubt sounds amazing, but somtimes i wonder if im forcing myself to like it, it just sounds a little weird. but that’s kinda besides the fact, i love freddy and this is a great album with lots of hits and different genres, and he does all of them well. i really really like “i love my rancho grande” and ... read more

Doug Sahm - Groover's Paradise
80

great album with a lot of cool influences, but i don’t feel like enough tracks stick out to me, some seem forgettable, but none of it is bad at all, very nice album still nonetheless.

Sir Douglas Quintet - 1+1+1=4
90

these dudes are absolute texan legends. this album needs so much more recognition because the blends of genres and culture in this music is just fantastic. it’s a big step up from their previous album just before this one. i just love the sound the sir douglas quintet put together so much. you can really feel the music in your soul, and this is exactly why i love texan music like this, and it’s not even a bias (only a little bit)

Sir Douglas Quintet - Mendocino
72

Sir Douglas Quintet’s sophomore album seems to lack a little bit of energy and liveliness but other than that it’s pretty solid, it’s not the most memorable album, but its got a few songs that stand out. i’m a big fan of “lawd, im just a country boy in this great big freaky city” and the next track “she’s about a mover” has a really fun instrumental and it feels very authentic and live especially when that bluesy guitar solo hits.

The Deslondes - Don't Let It Die: Vol. 1
70

it’s a solid project, but once again, i’m disappointed by the boringness of the album. it started off amazing and i was definitely not bored, the opening track had fantastic songwriting and after that was a really cool ballad that gave old johnny cash vibes. but soo after it got repetitive and boring. the vocals throughout most of the album was very good as always, they’ve built a really nice sound and this album sounds significantly more polished and finished than their first ... read more

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
75

i think this album would’ve been a whole lot better without danny brown, not only does he have a voice like nails on a chalk board, he just cant find a flow, it sounds horrible every time he wraps and it’s not just because of his voice. i think peggy does pretty well, the production is amazing though, it’s so extremely creative, peggy always blows me away with his creativity.

JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP
80

man this was awesome, i did not expect to not be bored through a 25 song album, but i was not, and could’ve gone much longer. the production as expected was phenomenal, like extremely impressive. i don’t have anything to say bad about this besides that i wasn’t a huge fan of the trap beats towards the end, and even though the same flow was used 95% of the time, its a great flow, and he is going off every single time, besides the charlie kirk lines, those were corny. but this ... read more

Keith Whitley - Tribute To The Stanley Brothers
75

did not think that we’d get new whitley/skaggs this year. but i mean it’s whitley and skaggs, of course it’s amazing. bluegrass from these two is perfection, their voices are so damn good together.
