I'll be honest. I originally gave this album a 95 because I slightly preferred GKMC over it, but the more I listen to it, the better it gets.
The opening track: "Wesley's Theory" is just so damn catchy and funky and sets the tone for the absolute treat of an album you're going to experience. I love every single track on here, no skips.
Please do yourself a favor and listen to this if you haven't already.
Hell of an introduction to what will become a storied career.
This was a fun listen and showcased the talents these two had. There are some absolute BANGERS on this (obviously "Da Funk", "Around the World", "Revolution 909", and "Alive"), but there are some rather underrated gems on here too. I particularly enjoyed "High Fidelity", "Phoenix", and "Indo Silver Club".
However, it wasn't all fantastic, "Rollin' ... read more
Take every unlikable aspect of Linkin Park and make an album out of it. That's this album.
The songs, to me, sound like carbon copies of songs that I enjoy WAY more.
"Casualty" is "Keys to the Kingdom"
"Two Faced" is "Figure.09"
"The Emptiness Machine" is "Final Masquerade"
And "Over Each Other" is probably one of the worst singles they have EVER released.
And anyone who values talented women fronting a band who can ... read more
PERFECTION.
I bought this record one day on a whim and every time I listen to it I have NEVER skipped a track. Production, storytelling, flow, personality, soul, and features are all top-tier. I love EVERY track, so I cannot pick a least favorite and usually I can do that with other albums, but not this one. "Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst" is such an AMAZING track, probably my favorite track from Kendrick of all time.

It took some time for me to come around to Death, as I always thought it was a bit too much for me. But since I now give more albums and artists a chance, I decided to put this album on.
All of a sudden, it clicked. I was thoroughly enjoying it. I had always acknowledged the talent behind the band, but this time I was fully hearing it. Every song on here is full of technical riffs both fast and slow, tight precision, and overall complexity. And it's amazing for the ENTIRE 56 minutes.

I expect to get even MORE hate for this. Out of the two of his projects I have listened to, his self-titled mixtape is better than this.
Production again carries the album, with Playboi Carti providing even less (IMO) substance than before. In addition, the features on this (tied with the production, obviously) barely made this album remotely listenable for me. I don't get the hype for it. It starts well and then falls down at a consistent rate. I really only enjoyed the intro, the rest were ... read more
I expect to get a lot of hate for this. Everyone hyped these albums up, so I finally gave a listen to this expecting to be blown away. And I was.
By the production, that is. This album is carried by the production. Carti provides little substance to the record, throwing in some ad-libs and casual flexing. I guess many just like the simplicity of it? Maybe I'm just not in the right mindset or place to enjoy this record.
Sorry to any fans out there. Maybe this album is GOAT material and I just ... read more
I had the first four albums on repeat for a while and this one was my favorite. The aggression, raw, and quick production make for a rough album, (and to take some lyrics for "No Place To Hide") which I like. This is my second favorite album they have made and while I do see the disappointment from some fans; it still ranks 2nd to me.
The drum work on this is amazing. I can almost taste that piccolo snare, especially in "Chi" and "Porno Creep", David Silveria ... read more
This was the first Korn album that I gave a full listen to and what ultimately got me into the band. I had heard "Freak On a Leash" long before but it wasn't my thing. Years later, I threw this album on at work and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now after numerous listens, it's time for a comprehensive review.
Putting the importance of this album aside and just making this objective, it's a good album. It's got some killer riffs, Jonathan slaying the vocals, funky bass, and man, this drum ... read more
I have listened to this album multiple times. I used to throw this on during work and just enjoy life. Now it's time for me to make a comprehensive review of it.
This is a fantastic album. "Blind" is a hell of an opener and there's a reason they play it at live shows every time. It shows what energy you're going to get from this album. Raw, loud, and deep. There are really only a few songs I'd skip if I was rushing this album. Those would be "Need To" and "Fake", ... read more
Being a massive Korn fan, I knew this would be a tough listen. I tried multiple times to get through it but never could. Today, I booted up Slime Rancher and threw this album on, and surprise, I finally did a full listen. And yeah, there's a reason many like to completely ignore this album. It takes elements of Korn and dubstep and meshes them into this loud, barely competent mess.
Most of the tracks are forgettable, Fuels the Comedy and Bleeding Out are probably my least favorites, nothing ... read more
I listened to this many times a few years back when I drove to work. I never got tired of it. I never skipped any songs. I just let this album play and occasionally sang along. Each new listen brought something new to enjoy, whether that be new harmonies, a song that hits at the right time, feeling the instrumentation, etc.
Upon relistening, this album still stands the test of time for me. I enjoyed it as much as I did years ago. Sure, not perfect by any means, but very, very good.
