Converge - Jane Doe
90

Shit rips, but what the hell was he saying

Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR
90

gawdDAMN.

It sounded like something I’d hear in a DOOM game, and then I looked at the credits. Not surprising Mick had a part in this. Anyway, WOW. This scratched an itch that I was having, I loved the vocals and it was overall just very tight and catchy, and the length I’d say was perfect for something like this. And what the fuck were they smoking for Kingslayer, because man that fucking rocked.

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing.....
85

DJ Shadow is a goddamn beast, like how the fuck do you make this out of nothing but samples. How.

Ka - Honor Killed the Samurai
88

First Ka for me. I didn’t know what I was expecting but I dig the cold, almost menacing delivery here, adds to the theme very well. Good shit, RIP Ka.

Soul Glo - Diaspora Problems
88

Love the different genres utilized, and man do I crave burning a car right now

Kill Bill: The Rapper - RAMONA
86

Abstract Jazz beats? Adult Swim, Anime, and Video Game samples? Ramona Flowers on the cover? Jesus Christ I am so easy to please.

Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
85

what a goddamn scrapyard indeed.

Thundercat - Distracted
83

my kitty is attracting thunder 🔥🔥🔥

THUNDERCAT IS BACK! And I’m very happy. Drunk was one of the first albums that got me into music alongside IGOR and TPAB, which all exposed me to some great artists back when I was 14, so to see him come back to make another record after so long just makes me giddy. And yeah, it was worth the wait! I gotta relisten to It Is What It Is before saying this is his best, but in terms of quality, I’d say it’s up there with Drunk for me ... read more

Mac Miller - Faces
89

One of his best. Even at a BONKERS hour and a half long runtime, this has barely any duds and is excellent when it comes to the production, features, and especially the writing. Swimming and Circles are more my speed honestly when it comes to hits, but Faces, for a 2014 mixtape made by a 22 year old Miller, is impressive.

“Yeah” is a masterpiece.

Kendrick Lamar - Section.80
81

Baby Kendrick.

EASILY his worst, and it’s still a really great record with some masterpieces thrown in there. He had it in him since DAY 1 and THAT says something.

Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer
84

Inject Y2K into my veins like how Charli XCX injects seizures and drugs into her work

McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!
89

Remembered adding this when it came out but never got around to it until now, and my god the PRODUCTION.

Mac Miller - GO:OD AM
86

Growing pains, but good growing pains nevertheless! Mac is at his best here with the production and themes present with some songs, and Perfect Circle / God Speed is a perfect song alone. While I will say it’s a little slow and uninteresting at points, I still think this is a great project, and proved Mac was the GOAT of white rappers.

A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
92

Tribe was so consistent with their records man, and this one is no exception, but man, all of them are great…what is The Love Moment?

underscores - U
93

underscores spring has sprung 🔥🔥🔥

Favorite record of the year so far. It’s such a big improvement from Wallsocket in the best ways possible. April’s songwriting and structure have improved greatly, the length is appropriate and full of absolute BANGERS, and the more Electronic approach to this record’s production is absolutely infectious. This shit makes me so happy, and the future for underscores is looking incredibly bright. Love it.

Ho99o9 - Tomorrow We Escape
83

I didn’t expect this more hardcore punk sound, but damn, did it end up well by the end. LOTS of bangers.

Gravediggaz - 6 Feet Deep
86

This has been stalking my album page for months now so I might as well get it out of my system. Horrorcore, outside of the two records clipping. released, is something I’m not TOO familiar with, but with this being a central moment not only for the genre but also the general 90s rap scene, it makes sense why this would be the one that everyone raves about.

Color me surprised though when I found out that this is technically a Wu-Tang project, albeit more silly and gory. It’s like ... read more

Boris - Pink
90

Title isn’t lying.

First Boris project for me, and yeah, gotta say that this has some of the sauce. It’s very catchy and I thought the instrumentals were very crunchy and sweet. I can see myself coming back to this.

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
94

relistened to this obscure indie album, i think it’s okay. kinda sounds like death grips

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
