its alright, has its moments but mostly fades into the background. The produciton generally is pretty good, and an overall improvement from last year's reform, but overall didn't leave much of an impact. Not bad, just not really all that interesting at least to me.
So unbelievably long and unfortunately too dull for me. A lot of strange ideas on the production here but many of them are either not elaborated on past their initial impact or, to be frank, just not that good. The autotune especially gets very grating after a while and doesn't really feel like it fits with some of these songs. And the mixing, while usually fitting on the very gritty kind of beats and songs i've heard before from CABALLERO is really quite puzzling here, sounds way too ... read more
new songs are mostly pretty great, but i do find friends a little obnoxious. decent deluxe, but i see why these weren't on the original.
yeah its kind of a cliche to say this is a perfect album but really man... Every listen is just such a rewarding experience, all the songs are so layered in both meaning and production, where everything feels very meticulous but never overproduced or pretentious. All the songs not only work based on the lyricism and storytelling (which is phenomenal) but are also just so damn great to listen to.
1 Rock Or Rock Adjacent Album Per Day For March: #1 Broken Social Scene
This album is pretty much exactly what I look for in my indie rock. It has a kind of youthful energy of a good kid but with an edge and grandiosity that elevates it so much higher. The instrumentation is delightfully lo-fi at times, with tasteful use of electronics and brass that really help it come together. The vocals are usually pretty great, although I do tend to preffer the female vocalist as I think she is a little ... read more
holyyy shittt i need to check out this band this is GENUINELY everything i ever want from rock music ngl
phenomenal production and the topic of the song does really feel very relateable and well explored here BUT the main issue I have with the track is the vocals which are sometimes good and sometimes pretty meh. The delivery is a little awkward and feels poorly executed here. Overall though theres a LOT of potential here.
pretty solid dnb track even though it feels like it ends a little too soon before it can really develop into something truly great. not bad tho.
beautiful song, very minimalistic as usual but the singing is very heartfelt and passionate. The piano is great and it feels very ethereal.
im right on the border of getting it on this one im ngl im really on the fence about how the vocals are mixed here... Love the beat and the ideas but im just not sure the vocals fit on this one..? might be the mixing, might be the delivery, ill give it a few more listens and see if that changes my mind
Gorillaz is back doing interesting music! After their last album was a little bit of a bore to me i was passively optimistic about this release hearing some of the singles be pretty good. And overall, this thing is chock full of really cool ideas, well produced songs and a TON of collaboration as is usual with Gorillaz. Not everything works for me, but its made up for by the fact that they are experimenting so much just doing a lot of different sounds and styles and fusing them. Its a ... read more
I actually quite like this and the piano outro thing is pretty neat. It doesn't blow my socks off like 2093 did, and i hope most of ADL doesn't really sound like this, but overall its a pretty nice triumphant banger and EsDeeKid does great too.
Contrary to Vince's other albums, which tend to rest in this very dark, very depressive almost manic state, this project instead finds its place in a feeling of warm melancholy. The beats on here are very soft, summery and chill but with enough energy to keep you going and overall this album just has the vibe of being alone on a beach with only you and your thoughts. Vince lyrically isn't doing anything super new but he is still consistent as ever.
Pretty good for the most part (especially in the more harsh/harder moments), but does do a few really goofy things that throw me off a bit. Not bad tho, and a pretty enjoyable listen overall.
Idk what yall are talking about the second half is just as good as the first. So dark and thoroughly grimy with some amazing production and great flows and energy and lyricism from vince. Such an incredible debut and some of his best work. This and big fish theory are perfect albums to me ngl
a big improvement over the last Mihal Lunar album i listened to but still a lot of room for improvement. definitely some tracks feel like they could have used something else to add some interest, whether that be vocals or another instrument or something. It makes certain tracks on here feel very one note and a little self indulgent/dull at times. Still, overall a quite enjoyable instrumental record for the most part.
Some interesting ideas with really shit mixing ngl. Theres a part on the last song here where the vocals just become like 2 times louder for no reason and it does NOT sound very good at all. The beats are mostly pretty cool, even if pretty standard fare, and the rapping is okay to decent.
i wanted to like it a lot but it just does nothing for me. It sounds visceral sure and has some interesting ideas but i just really did not like it very much. The main distorted section at the start does nothing for me. The piano part sounds okay, maybe a little cheap, but also does nothing for me. i hate to shit on music, especially music that is personal to the person that made it, but this just does not sound good, and not that it has to especially if its personal but it doesn't sound ... read more
i definitely get a bit lost in the sauce in ambient records in general, but especially this one i found myself not really paying attention and zoning out a lot. Its pretty serviceable ambient/ambient adjacent music and as is custom with the genre doesn't really do much for me. Not phenomenal, but not bad at all. I do really appreciat the story behind this project tho and the intent is not lost on me, but I find this ep just okay.
MUCH better on multiple listens, pretty great but not quite as good as his other work. wish it was a little more agressive but overall hits hard for the most part.
