Pearl Charles - Magic Mirror
NR

Nostalgic pop rock that reminds me of a more modern ABBA for some reason. I love its subtle funky-ness. This album sounds like you're up late in bed fondly reminiscing about a fun party you went to.

Goat Girl - On All Fours
NR

Decent indie rock. The good bits are the electronics (which are way too infrequent) and the textures in the tracks. Has some nice moments but gets a bit 'samey' towards the end.

Yung - Ongoing Dispute
NR

Well structured alt rock with honest emotions that seep into every element of the album. It creates an amazing atmosphere that I can imagine a lot of people crying to. This has some very cool progressions. It also has some stand out tracks, but it’s fairly direct lyrics about relationships distract me from the rest of the album.

Tamar Aphek - All Bets Are Off
NR

Great post-rock with elements of alt rock and pop. I love how dark and distorted the instruments are. It makes the whole album really chilling and atmospheric. The simple yet effective baselines drive the music forward. This album’s artist knows how to write a good melody.

Mogwai - As the Love Continues
NR

Mogwai still sounds like Mogwai, and that’s not a bad thing.

Hayley Williams - FLOWERS for VASES / descansos
NR

Not as good as ‘Petals For Armour’, but I like how sincere and homemade it feels. It has some amazing moments.

A Winged Victory for the Sullen - Invisible Cities
NR

A luscious modern soundscape album inspired by classical music. Not too adventurous in its melodies, but it still contains some gorgeous moments as well as a strong second half. I love how moody it manages to be by contrasting dark progressions on acoustic instruments with harsh noise.

Smerz - Believer
NR

This is a unique blend of a lot of things... This sounds like a collage of well constructed sound. I honestly don't know where to start. One thing I can say is that I don't think the balance of instrumental to non-instrumental tracks works. This album takes you for an eye-opening genre-blending ride... For reference, Arca is the only other artist I can imagine making something similar to this. I am incredibly fascinated by this.

Lokoy - Badminton
NR

Charming bedroom pop with some subtle hyperpop influences. Catchy, immediate and fresh sounding. The album is constantly bringing something new to the table. I don't really like how derivative and cringe the lyrics are, but all of the other elements make up for that. This was a really fun listen, I will definitely be coming back to this a lot.

Fievel Is Glauque - God's Trashmen Sent to Right the Mess
NR

This is pure music. It feels like a glimpse into someone’s life. It sounds so wholesome. I love it’s personal honesty. However, each track kind of does similar things. I’ll definitely be coming back to this again.

Pino Palladino & Blake Mills - Notes With Attachments
NR

Atmospheric deconstructed jazz. I love how well the production compliments the album. This is a very cool release. My only issue is that it isn’t consistent in how experimental and loose it is.

Divide and Dissolve - Gas Lit
NR

The contrast of sounds on this album makes for some of the grandest and most epic noises imaginable. I love just how distorted and heavy it sounds. What a cool album. Great drone metal sound. My only issue is that it starts to get a bit ‘samey’ and there are some odd moments.

John Carpenter - Lost Themes III: Alive After Death
NR

John Carpenter is clearly a master of his craft. This is a great selection of his trademark world ending synth jams. However, it sounds a bit too much like a B-sides compilation album.

Wardruna - Kvitravn
NR

Me and my Viking homies at the end of the world.

Rare Americans - Rare Americans 2
NR

Aggressively alternative and quirky rock music with some stand-out tracks. It’s aimed at a teen audience and this unfortunately fills it with cliches that distract from the quality music going on. They have a unique and distinct style, it mixes the best bits of ‘anti-pop’ and 00’s alt rock and packages it in a pretty radio friendly sound (If you ignore some of the lyrics...). This has some very good guitar work and some effective vocal performances. The album is great to ... read more

Rob Zombie - The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy
NR

Instead of listening to this, listen to ‘Infest The Rats Nest’. Unless you’re here for the industrial inspired beats and unique production, then you can go ahead and listen to this. Although pretty underwhelming, this does have some sick moments. Too many ‘interludes’.

Ken M - Ken M
NR

Weird atmospheric electronic indie pop. It feels very personal to the artist, almost confessional. Something is unsettling about this and I can’t place my finger on what... It’s not bad, I enjoy the electronic and instrumental swells and melodies. However, as a whole , it feels slightly underwhelming. Discussing serious mental health issues in this manner feels odd...There is some seriously messed up stuff on here that is hard to look past. I’m excited to see what they make ... read more

Steven Wilson - THE FUTURE BITES
NR

Very well produced art pop/rock with cool electronic elements. I love the concept and sound. This will probably grow on me.

Mason Lindahl - Kissing Rosy in the Rain
NR

This doesn’t set out to be an amazing album, it sets out to create a beautiful emotional melancholic atmosphere. It does this with great success. This would be phenomenal as a soundtrack for a sad short film.

Fruit Bats - The Pet Parade
NR

Pleasantly delicate authentic folk music. Very comforting. Made by someone who clearly has a talent for translating emotion to music. It reminds me a bit of ‘Turin Brakes’. Unfortunately, it’s a touch too drawn out and aimless. When the songs opened up, they had already gone on unchanged for a little bit too long.
