first half is great, but the second half didn't feel as great
I honestly really wanted to love this record (especially since i quite enjoy spinetta's work on pescado rabioso and almendra) but i simply didn't. maybe it will grow onto me, i can say tho the opening track is amazing
edit: slightly grew on me
taking nostalgia aside, this album has only two tracks i can tolerate (teenage dream and e.t) and everything else is just extremely boring or just bad, by the time the ninth track was playing i just wanted this album to end already
while i understand the criticism this album gets, i honestly still like it and if it was shorter i would've given it a higher score
MAC DEMARCO DISCOGRAPHY DIVE #3
yet another record that is very nostalgic for me. i used to listen to this all the time in my early highschool days. looking back this is basically like his previous record but slightly better. my favorite song is the opener and title track, "salad days", but the closer is underrated in my opinion. not to mention "chamber of reflection", great song. i originally gave this a 70 but i slightly lowered the score since to me this feels like almost ... read more
MAC DEMARCO DISCOGRAPHY DIVE #2
the first time i heard this album was during a vacation trip to europe back in 2019. since then i strongly associated this record to that trip, which was very nostalgic. originally i rated this record a 70, but i lowered the score during my relisten since i feel slightly out outgrown from a few songs, however "ode to viceroy" and "my kind of woman" is still as amazing as ever. not to mention it's a great improvement from his first EP.
MAC DEMARCO DISCOGRAPHY DIVE #1
i do not like this EP. i don't like that deep voice mac has, "she's really all i need" is the only song i like
I had a mini tally hall phase in highschool. honestly listening to this again as an adult makes me question why I liked this? my only takeaways from my relisten is ruler of everything and the bridge of the bidding.
besides me liking the first song, the rest is basically the same, you're not missing out.
tbh I really wanted to like this album (i really liked tracks 1, 8, 9 and 10) but at the same time it felt a bit underwhelming for me. still solid, i can see why people love this
edit: ok this really grew onto me as time when on
In the morning of May 9th, 2023, I was waiting for my coffee while waiting for my class to start. When I checked my phone, I received the news that Rita Lee has passed away. For the first time in my life, an artist I truly admired has passed away, and as I write this review two days after her passing, I am still in disbelief. As a Brazilian, I practically knew the name Rita Lee while I was still a child, my mom owned some of her CDs, which is how I found out about the singer. This record was ... read more
Earlier this year, I did a review on RIta Lee's 1975 magnus opus album, "Fruto Proibido". That was the record that made her into a household name in Brazilian music. However, three years before that record was released, Rita Lee was a member of Brazilian psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes, with this record being the last ever piece of collaborative work between her and fellow band mates.
1972 was a rough year for Rita Lee. That was the year where not only was she removed from Os ... read more
