Probably the best Tyler has ever released. My personal favorite part about the album is the sample chops and how good they sound. BOY IS A GUN and GONE GONE to name just the many ones found. The production is outstanding, albeit somewhat lacking in EARFQAUKE, but still amazing. With a story inside the album as well, it makes for such an amazing short 40-ish-minute listen.
Everything from the key changes, and jazzy fast drums, to small vocals in some parts, makes for an amazing listen. I love the Rhodes and general instruments used in this as well. They all stand out when you listen, and you're able to tell each one and what purpose it serves in the production. Amazing vibe and album and my favorite Jazz-Fusion album ever
My friend suggested this to me for this review, and I'm pleasantly surprised. I didn't anything about the band's work beforehand, but this is a good introduction. A lot of spacey layered vocals that sound very angelic, For Ella being a stand-out for this. I like a lot of the production a lot, but sometimes they can be buried in the mix that I can't tell what the hell they're saying.
It's a very mixed bag between soft production with some nice plucks and pads to heavy guitars over synths. ... read more
I think I liked this more than I should due to my life situation. I cried to "It Could Be Anything" and felt very emotional during "iii", the instrumentals here are absolute gold, I loved every single one so much. The soft violins and folk inspirations stand out over nice airy guitars, both acoustic and electric making for such a beautiful experience. I wasn't as much of a fan of the vocals. They grew on me as I went further into the album but I still think there were some ... read more
For him returning to music with this, it is NOT as good as he did before, at all. A lot of boring tracks that are just background noise. The production as well is nothing compared to literally ANY OTHER ALBUM he has released
Lyrical I will say it is funny, and there were clever lines at some point, and Playboi Carti spit, but most of it was just passable. Ty Dolla Sign also out-performed Ye in a lot of the songs, specifically “BACK TO ME”, which is one of the catchier moments in ... read more
Not as big of a step up as I expected to be listening to coming into this, especially with the reception her first album got. A lot of the songs have the same vibe tho and I’m happy she still is making Ballad+indie music as she really shines with those
Expect the same relative ideas in the songs, revenge, love, grief, etc. but “Teenage Dream” was a nice new dose of a different main does talking about how she doesn’t really feel grown and shit like that. Instrumentals ... read more
the all-time greatest rock album IMO. Even looking past how innovative this was for the time, it's genuinely such an incredible trippy listen. The only track I could see somewhat of a problem in is On The Run, which is an instrumental that just goes on a bit longer than it needs to, but it doesn't take from the experience. Time and Money are probably the best tracks off the album, the guitar solo on Time and the 7/4 time on Money are some of my favorite parts.
One of the best experimental albums of the 2010s. With high-pitched ear-piercing production in some aspects, particularly Macaulay Culkin and Whole Foods, to low dark beats in Rainbow Six and Germs. I think a lot of people can find something they enjoy.
The lyrics also stand out and are mixed just right to match the chaotic beats and samples. Many internet, political, and movie references are very clever, with many one-liners and catchy flows to match them so they can get stuck in your head ... read more
I won't take the actual show into the conversation, this is strictly about the music. The vocals are very good most of the time, although sometimes they can be off-putting, "It Starts With Sorry" has Alex Brightman singing in a snake voice, which works in character, but it's very odd for casual listening.
Many catchy melodies and parts, I think Stayed Gone and Loser Baby stand out the most. The performances add to it as well ontop of some simple jazz chords and melodies. Most of the ... read more
Aside from the video game attached. The melodies, chords, and overall feel of the album are beautiful. After listening, I'm sure a song will stick with you
