Hauntingly beautiful, every track carries the same atmosphere in its own special way, it has a darkness to it that I enjoy. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever listened to, in a good way. It’s depressing because it reflects Peggy’s life at the time, in my opinion it’s a better Black Ben Carson. Peggy was close to killing himself, and the darkness and despair surrounding that filled this album. All of the tracks have that feeling, the ominous sensation, the songs are ... read more

Solya - Monster

The atmosphere is gloomy yet legendary, all of the songs stand out, and flow together smoothly. We Say Goodbye was released as a single, and already has 1 million streams. Sonya has established herself as a great indie artist, and this EP further shows her talent. When Every Road I Know was a single I listened to it all the time, and as her first EP, she's done well. The sad vibe created here is heavenly, I think this EP will soon prove itself as 12 mins of perfection. I’m excited ... read more

Kenny Mason - Angelic Hoodrat: Supercut
90

Kenny Mason combines trap sounds with angelic sounds, 43, the first song, is already a great example. He combines two wonderful sounds to make a great experience, he was an up and coming rapper back when this dropped. And now with his more recent projects people forget about this album, and the original album. It’s underrated, and the melodic elements show it’s better than you may expect. I think hip hop fans who like melodic songs, would really love this album. The ending of Rih ... read more

BROCKHAMPTON - ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE
88

Great listening experience with fresh sounds, its energetic, intense and emotional. It’s a solid album, with great tracks like the light parts 1 and 2, don’t shoot up the party and when I ball. Some tracks can get repetitive, but it’s clean and the album flows smoothly with each track. They all fit together within the atmosphere they created, and makes for a great listen. Roadrunner leaves you feeling free, and i think it’s very relatable at times. The light part 2 is a ... read more

The Beach Boys - Sunflower
95

Pet Sounds showcased a lot of sadness, if Pet Sounds is hardships, this album is the light at the end of the tunnel. Sunflower is a great experience, capturing a perfect essence of childhood, sunshine and having a good time. The songs transition seamlessly, the sounds are majestic, and capture many different emotions. With the happy sounds, we also have some sadness. The dedication that goes into these songs shows the emotions portrayed beautifully. Many instruments mixtured into the songs to ... read more

Vince Staples - Dark Times
85

Vince has overcome hard times, depression and sadness fill the album, but through hardships, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This album represents a period all of us had, some for a short time, some for longer, some ongoing, some overcame. One of the album superpowers of 2024, truly a great album I enjoyed, it can also be repetitive and there are flaws.. 8.5/10

BROCKHAMPTON - GINGER
86

It is consistent, but blends different sounds, it’s title track really sums up the album. Great mellow sounds, some high paced and some slow. It’s a mixture of all things great about Brockhampton, one of the best if not the best hip hop album of 2019. 8.6/10.

JPEGMAFIA - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU
94

From hard and rough, to melodic and melancholic, Peggy combines two eccentric styles of his, which comes out crazy good. With his spitting reflecting on some early elements he used in his music career, and bringing in new experimental sounds. Peggy with another classic, it achieves greatness on multiple listens. It has elements of AMHAC (an album which I love) and even some LP! type songs (vulgar display similar to end credits!). I really do love this album tho, from start to finish its an ... read more

Sade - Promise

A soothing shot at r&b, neo soul and jazz. Since the reissue of this album comes out 21st of June for me, (in Australia) I thought I would speak on this album.

Is It a Crime, the perfect introduction, a lovey dovey track, with crystal clear vocals, with a peaceful nature. The quiet “is it a crime”, so beautiful. This album is ahead of its time, for 1985, this album is “pretty”. The first song already solidifies a strong experience, not just an emotional album. And ... read more

Denzel Curry - I’M JUST SAYIN THO

IMA SAUCE THIS SHIT HARD MAN, 9/10.

Frank Ocean - nostalgia,ULTRA.
89

Great mixtape for its time, with sad and happy mood shifts, Frank Oceans first project under the Frank Ocean name. Although it can be disregarded, as Franks worst piece of art, I think it’s amazing. It’s a beautiful piece of work, but it is discrediting however with heavy sampling. Sampling is good, but not with almost every song, it is beneficial, but most of what we can credit Frank here, is his singing and some lyrics. I still think it was good sampling, and he does set a great ... read more

The Smashing Pumpkins - Perfect
99

Perfect, an almost perfect song. I think this song captures a melancholy feeling so well, of love, a bit of obsession. A weird perspective on love at times, but love. This song is wistful and beautiful, the production, drums and electronic elements are crazy good! The strangers when we meet, but lovers when we sleep line is a bit odd. Considering it’s coming from a perspective of obsessiveness, with the thinking of her in his dreams. But with the amazing sounds and general element of this ... read more

Pixies - Monkey Gone to Heaven

Funny but interesting storytelling, highlight of the album. Me and my brother like this song, it’s a certified banger. Whether it’s a metaphor for climate change, or domestication of animals? It’s a great track, the “if man is five, then the devil is six, then god is 7” is great with the album cover, showing a 5, 6 and 7 on the cover. This song is central to the album, also having a dead monkey with a halo in the center. The production, drums, guitar and vocals are ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Cartoon + Cereal

Most consistent song on here to be honest, high ratings that are deserved. This was originally on gkmc I believe, and if we go to the plot. It would have been Track 1, not really going anywhere with the plot. Except talking about his childhood, and he uses great metaphors to describe Compton and a child, he describes how he grew up in a “sandbox”. Production wise this song is crazy good, sad it never was officially released. The sample though, true talent there. 10/10 sampling, the ... read more

Denzel Curry - Walkin
98

A great message to move and push forward through struggle, while also being literal while talking about walking. The crazy good production, along with the beautiful wordplay you can expect from Denzel, you can find a great “walking” track, and a great track in general. It is one Denzel’s most mature songs, and one of his best. 9.8/10.

Denzel Curry - BLACK BALLOONS | 13LACK 13ALLOONZ
93

Denzel opens up about his past experiences, using metaphors with the black balloons. Talking about pain, he uses black balloons to symbolise his pent up sadness and his pain. And when the black balloons pop, after they have lingered with him, the pain goes out. And he can find some happiness, great wordplay and great track. 9.3/10.

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city
100

Best album of the 2010s and possibly of all time, my favourite album I have on loop. #1 in my top 5 at this moment, this album is crazy good and I can’t describe how great this masterpiece is but I’ll try:

Sherane aka master splinters daughter (he’s calling her a hood rat) follows the story of Kendrick meeting a girl at a party, and they talk for ages, he finally goes to her house to get with her, but he gets jumped. Kendrick’s mother asks him to bring the car back, ... read more

The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
97

I will first post my review of the “Dawn to Dusk” portion of the album, then later on, review the second half.

DAWN TO DUSK:

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, the title track, a perfect introduction to a melancholic album, this title perfectly describes the feel of the album. Starting off with this great instrumental track sets the tone, with a nice piano.

Starting right off with a banger, Tonight, Tonight is an influential classic. While this song has aged beautifully, we ... read more

Devon Hendryx - DREAMCAST SUMMER SONGS
95

The vibrant, energetic feelings ooze out of this project, and they are legendary. This project can deliver warm feelings, and lonely at the end of the journey feelings.

The first song has a great sample from Marvin Gaye, the warm summer feeling, like going through a night drive in the city. Power Stone really feels like Christmas, at around the 2:50 mark we reach a melancholy type beat, very 2000s. The weird sounds kind of fit surprisingly, even the reversed sounds and “moans”. ... read more

JPEGMAFIA & Denzel Curry - BALD! REMIX
92

Denzel does outshine Peggy here, just a little bit. Even though he is a feature, Denzel raps for longer and has better bars. BALD has a great beat, the sample and how it’s used is really crazy. Denzel really goes crazy, wish a critic would have some music taste to give this a review. 9.2/10.
