The reviews are so despicable. And it's typical anytime a nostalgic artists try something new. You have inventive 808s. Wildly catchy choruses and tons of new sounds to love. The most underrated bsb album ever. New love is a sleeper hidden grail of a song.
Important and sensible messaging for young girls combined with female empowerment make for an album with lots of direction with sometimes no ability to follow that direction.
Best song - Same old love
Worst song - Body Heat
Losing Grip - 95/100 - The vocality is powerful, intriguing, the orchestral emo vibe that goes to the moon and back mixed with the vicious bass drop is so dark, emotional and heavy. Peak pop punk here. I love this one.
Complicated - 100/100 - The song is a time capsule, it's VH1 in a little canadian streak haired skate frothy anthem of angst and worthiness. It rips. If I had to make a top 50 of my genuine favorite songs of all time. It'd be there. It's chorus is punchy, catchy, wild, heroic ... read more
Hit me baby one more time - 100/100 - The post chorus that transitions into a mello drama of her teen angst is pillowy, clean and neatly concise. At this age it's silly she can sing this good. It has heavy pop fun but her voice actually goes soft. It's badass. It's also easy on the ears. It isn't let me scream to scream. It's a pop moment bigger than maybe all.
You drive me crazy - 95/100 - The stop remix is better than this version but their is a fun guitar out solo and her melodies go over ... read more
Sweetest Sin - 95/100 - It's rawly sexual but not in a gross or promiscuous way that you'd feel ashamed to listen to it. It's natural and honest transparency of how monogomous people think of their wedding consomation. It's brutally hot in sensitive ways. But the vocals don't try too hard to be abrasive. Her voice doesn't have similarities to anyone I feel and it's so distinct.
With you - 99/100 - Oh wow, this is an anthem, a bop, a wonderful 2000s voice on par with a slighlty girlier Kelly ... read more
Has Immense Highs Like What A Girl Wants which is fun. But droves of disposable unmemorable singy songy ballads.
Larger than life - 97/100 - The title speaks for itself a song that is larger than life for the boys. Starting the record with a dance anthem with a heavy electric vibe fitting for the album based around the turn of the millenium. It is a more mature, slightly more sexy and pungent sound. It is just accessible.
Want in that way - 100/100 - This song has been played so much it is essentially the background music to anyone born in the 2000s life at this point lol. But somehow it never gets old. ... read more
Ridiculous the reviews praising the sounds of a woman going through a nervous breakdown having men write promiscuous lyrics for her even though she's not coherent enough. Filled with awful trap beats, strip club type beats, beats like c3po ans r2d2 getting it on. This album is less than trash and only the depraved could think it's ok how the industry wrote piece of me. A song about her being taken advantage of as they take advantage of her.
Bye bye bye - 90/100 - Catchy, but doesn't reinvent the wheel. It's well mixed. It's rythmically intelligent. A fun song.
It's Gonna Be Me - 100/100 - It's one of them generational songs, it follows up bye bye bye with much more complex ranges, the chorus is so much more an ear worm, digging a warm nest like an apple, making this about the only song worthy of a prolonged war with other boy band territorial discogs.
Space Cowboy - 32/100 - It's bad and not even left eye can save the ... read more
A New Beggining - 72/100 - Intro sounds like the simpsons movie then pisses in your cereal with viciousness lol. What on earth the viciousness and aggressiveness of it. It's just an instrumental wake up call it seems. And it's enough to wake up Snorlax. I might not include this in the avg. It's not really even a song. It's an intro
Anthem - 96.75 - I don't ever wanna be youuuuuu!! The punchy guitar in this thing rip a fun green day voice that kinda bounced on beat. He sounds like a punk ... read more
Oops I Did It Again - 100/100 - This would have fared less than Hit Me Baby If Not For This Post Chorus Breakdown at the end. They rip the already stellar chorus through your soul. Vocally it's so masterful, catchy, a damn industry pop machine oiled and operating and it's finest capacity and their was no stopping it. The title track of the album again opens up with a lot to offer.
Stronger - 100/100 - I'm unapologetically sorry if that makes sense but this song is fucking vicious. On these ... read more
