Guys, I really don't know what you expected with this one. The vast majority of cover albums like this are mostly misses with a few hits, and this one is no different. That being said, I respect that many artists had WILDLY different takes on these classic songs, even if it didn't always work out. Paramore killed it, Blondshell's and Linda Lindas' covers were very fun, and BBNG made lovely summertime music. Obviously wish it was better, but man the 1/100 scores are unfair here.
Can I just say it's so cool to have a producer in the pop space like Finneas right now? Man is legitimately innovating and crafting a unique sound and doing it WELL
the vocalist sounds like Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron moments after stubbing his toe
Ok I was way too hard on this thing, it’s so playful and silly but also contains about 5 incredibly solid songs
Starts strong but kinda fades into nothing by the end
um excuse me but THIS RIPPED??? Ibibio Sound Machine has been hit and miss for me, but my GOD the grooves on this thing are nuts
My first Iron & Wine album and it's shaping up to be one of the most underrated albums of 2024 so far. The songwriting! The production! The strings!
Not as mediocre as a lot of you are saying, but I definitely wish the songwriting was as good as Future Nostalgia
Ok hear me out. Kamasi Washington is undeniably one of the most talented and ambitious figures in modern jazz, and this album is absolutely a showcase of this. But I have to admit, aside from Prologue (one of his best songs imo), very few tracks here jumped out at me. The album sort of blends together, and the vibe and performances are great, but after two listens I'm just not taking as much away as his other two albums.
The singles on this are some of the Twigs' best songs! I just wish their albums were more consistent, as there are definitely few skips here
While part of me wishes Mdou experimented a little more, this was consistently pretty great. Doesn't reach the heights of Afrique Victime but still wonderful!
The singles for this are among my favourite songs of 2024 so far and this quickly became one of my most anticipated of the year. What a beautiful, touching album. I hope Pratt doesn't wait another 5 years for music
Batshit insane in every sense. Relentlessly surprising and consistently great, with some all-time funk/jazz/alt-rock bangers all over the place
