The age-old question:
Is this this jazziest funk or the funkiest jazz?
There's something sinister hidden underneath the veneer of this album. Like the radio frequencies that come to a fever pitch toward the end of many of the tracks. The lyrical decisions that keep you wondering. It's beautiful in a way. It's like looking at a hummingbird in the wild and wondering how it's even possible for this creature to exist.
God damn I love The Cure. They still rock just as hard. Is it bias? Hard to say. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this album. It's dreamy and melancholic. All things I look forward to from them.
It contains several of the biggest indie hits of the 2000s. I don't mean to be blasé, but it's not going to challenge you or change your life. Either way, it's certainly pleasant. It's perfect to toss on for some quick & carefree listening.
