It’s kinda crazy how massive this album and its image blew up last year with the cultural movement the “brat summer” became. My problem with this album is definitely that it’s not insanely interesting to me and just felt like a regular Pop release of that year. I know some will say that I’m hating just because it’s popular but I remember sitting down when this record came out (way before brat summer became a thing) and putting in the CD and feeling that it ... read more
One of the best Hip-hop albums ever made. Every track on here is crafted with genius (pardon the pun) from RZA’s production, GZA’s rapping throughout and quality guest appearances from Wu-Tang members there’s not much more a Hip-hop fan could ask for.
One of the best groovy Hip-hop albums around. I find myself bobbing my head to the beat or just straight up dancing to this album whenever I decide to spin it. This record acts as an amazing way to just zone out to the production and lyrics. Q-Tip handled the beats here like a champ every single track has something about it’s instrumental which is catchy in some way.
The movement of the Trap style of production in Hip-hop and popular music in recent years shouldn't be overlooked while the sub-genre has never overly interested me personally as I've seen far to many mediocre releases come out Travis Scott's Rodeo is without a doubt the best of the best in terms of Trap.
A huge disappointment. This release was a monumental disaster as all the tracks hardly focus on the albums topic of being a 'showgirl' and lots of the tracks feel immature and childish. I find it baffling that an album which she wrote when she was 14-15 is more interesting than one which she wrote at 34-35.
One of the best Hip-hop releases of the 2000s and a top tier Wu-Tang solo project.
An incredibly strong concept highlighted by a phenomenal track list with amazing guest features such as Mos Def, Snoop Dogg & Bobby Womack to name a few.
This album takes time to really get and I’m so glad I gave it time. Kanye created a Hip-hop album which mostly uses orchestral sounds which is a real switch up for the genre and I haven’t really seen anything like it since. Kanye also improves his overall rapping skill on here and doubles down with the features with the likes of Nas, Common, JAY-Z, The Game & Paul Wall making an appearance.
Really great cloud rap album which I always throw on when travelling.
