leaning more experimental, yet still being twice as chaotic as you fail me
overall incredible
both the most underrated and the most overrated avenged sevenfold album depending on how chronically online you are
sometimes the rough around the edges production makes the experience even better
normally i’d give bonus points for consistency, but it genuinely felt like i listened to the same song ten times in a row
its still really good music, but have some variety please
slow, atmospheric and laced with a brutal nihilism, this album does what it aims to do very well and kept me drifting
the mix is iffy but i still find this pretty fun, reminds me of old school escape the fate
a lot of this is pretty good, adjacent to that creatures style, but there’s a few songs on here that i hope my ears forget one day
why is wasp seven fucking minutes. minus two for wasting my time
this feels like the awkward middle child of the discography, not really having as much fun scenecore heaviness as creatures, but not really having any of the epic and large aspects of their later works
while this does save this from some of the over the top melodrama, it leaves me dissatisfied and honestly, pretty boring
although they pulled out all the stops on the last song goddamn 😭
okay i lied, this is a lot more 50/50 than disguise, but at least it becomes pretty dope towards the end, i’ll give them that much
also, what the hell is dead as fuck II.
a lot more consistent than disguise, but it doesn’t really pick up til the second half
might be one of the most 50/50 albums i’ve ever heard, half of this stuff is some of the most epic metalcore i’ve heard in a while, while the other half can be really corny and honestly chris sounds kind of annoying at times
but, when this album hits it HITS.
it just feels excessive tbh. like yes deathcore is heavy af as a genre but i feel like this album is more or less a test of “how heavy can we go” vs “can we make some
dope ass music” or share some kind of greater message
it’s not bad, just not really for me
bonus track went hard af tho
game changer. yes their future works are better but this is still some amazing stuff with some of the hardest hitting breakdowns i’ve heard in a while
kinda just view this as a deluxe version of TDOPOM, but even then the amount of remixes is just straight up unnecessary
the original tracks are dope as hell though
they’ve been a band for what like thirty years and they STILL go this hard? damn.
pretty unique deathcore album, combines the old school suicide silence style with more melodic and progressive elements to create something that’s pretty damn dope
