So this Album Really is to me a quintessential 2010s dance Pop record. The High points show what the best of the sound has to offer, and the low points show what some of the biggest flaws can be.
This album starts with the song that has come to define Robyn's discography. "Dancing On My Own" is probably the best track on this album, or at least Top 3 for me.
This album both felt like some fun electro pop and dance pop with sad lyrics or sexually charged lyrics, which creates a ... read more
This beef brought me out of a 7-month Hibernation to review all these tracks. I consider this the first full diss made.
So to jump into a slightly more in-depth review than most on these tracks. This song is compact and concise in production and disses but a large scattershot regarding who the targets are. It made a lot of sense for Drake to swing at everyone who came at him on the future albums, So I'm not mad at it.
This is a very solid diss by Drake Standard and a solid first diss all ... read more
This song isn't that bad. It's just very repetitive with it's Bible-based tale and general Christian themes. Would be a lot worse if the "Hallelujah" Vocal line that is repeated no joke 14 times in this 2-minute 45-second long song That's once every 11 seconds. Ending every single line with Hallelujah is a creative choice for sure. But the thing is what's weird is I don't know what this story is for or about it seems to toss together a bunch of biblical story beats and toss them ... read more
This song is just shy of 2 minutes and that might be a good thing, Considering how it sounds like one day on a Tuesday afternoon a record label was like "We need an Elvis" We're going to fall behind the times and not have a good enough radio share to get a good chunk of money. Go find us someone who can technically sing and sounds like Elvis and throw him into a studio and give him one of our producers and say "Godspeed" and make us a hit.
This song is very hokey, It reminds me of "Pony Time" by Chubby Checker, But Cheaper sounding. the song was written by Ritchie Adams as well and every #1 hit had a B-side back then. The B Side was called "Oh Yes, I Love You". Ummmm did I forget to mention it's performed by Bobby Lewis? No, you knew that already. Well okay, I really don't know what to say right now this song is very mediocre in a very uninteresting way.
This song is not really that bad it just feels empty somehow. Can't quite describe it but something about the instrumental sounds very hollow. Very little change or evolution either from the song as well. Also, the lyrics didn't have a lot of thought or care put into them. How do I know this? Well, this studio story. The first half of the chorus goes "Moody river, more deadly than the vainest knife" According to Wikipedia the original lyric was supposed to be "Sharpest ... read more
Wow, Just wow. The Vocal Runs on this song are entrancing and perfect. This song was supposedly written in 5 minutes by Orbison. If true then it's decently impressive, Because even though the lyrics aren't mine blowing they help convey a deep sadness and emotion that his vocals live up to. This song is another one of my favorites I've heard as part of my review batch.
This song is charming as most of the Ricky Nelson songs I've heard are. This song is a very solid vocal performance with a good handful of camp in the lyrics. A Fun little tune and doesn't stand out amongst it's peers in skill or originality but does what it does well enough that none of that matters and it's still very enjoyable.
I will not be listening to or reviewing "Wanted $10,000.00 Reward" I only Listen to A-Sides for Reviews. Because that's the one people are showing up for. This song has some weird spacing between singing parts and no singing and an abrupt ending with a quick fade. You'd think that with how much time they gave to instrumental breaks they'd do a slow fade rather than an "Okay you get it we don't like our mother-in-law. Flip it over to the B-Side now" A song that sounds like ... read more
So I will do this Album a favor that most aren't willing to give. To give this album the time of day, write an in-depth review of it song by song. You probably wonder. "Why would you do that to yourself" Well it's just how I review albums. If you make an album that interested me enough to review it. Then I will try to give you an in-depth review. Plus I haven't seen any track-by-track breakdowns of this album. This means my review would be a little more original than the meme ones. So ... read more
I Wa Wa Wa Wa Wa wonder why this is a #1 song? I also Wa Wa Wa Wonder who Del Shannon is? I did a Wikipedia check and learned a little about him. For that he was taught Guitar by Hank Williams and Had his own record label called "Berlee Records" Wow What interesting Facts. Sorry, this song is just very hard to have anything to say about so i gave fun facts instead.
This song reminds me of "Bawitdaba" by Kid Rock weirdly. However, The Marcels are almost certainly better singers and performers and people than Kid Rock. This song is perfectly okay, Fun little tune to hear and listen to but nothing mind-blowing or really exciting. Just another song that sounds like any other doo-wop type pop song of it's time.
If there's anything this song has going for it. It's personality and character. This song that's just shy of 2 minutes, That sounds like a song made for a classic Bond Movie. It's a little weird at times like the last 20 seconds don't make sense to me vocal-wise. Not really capturing the right vibe the song had built up to that point. It's not bad, Most Elvis hits are not bad just not spectacular.
This song has the same energy as the first major Checker hit. (The Twist) but missing that magic or charm that makes it enjoyable. This song isn't bad it just feels like when I hear it. I can't help but hear an attempt to recapture the magic. I guess it worked on a commercial level since it went #1 on the Billboard charts. But when it comes to my ear and most people. it's second-rate compared to the twist and more forgotten to time and far less iconic.
A simple inoffensive instrumental song. That has nothing of note for it and it's enjoyment or hatred of the song will almost solely depend on your enjoyment of the backing hum over the whole track. Because you will hear "ooooo-oooo-oooo-ooo" Into "LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA" a lot in this song but I still mildly enjoy it personally.
Will you? Will you still love me tomorrow Harold? I played this song for you Harold. So you could get the range of how I feel. See if I just asked you this without this catchy tune. You'd hear it but might not feel it. With the voices of The Shirelles, you can't help but feel. So again Harold I ask will you still love me tomorrow? Hell, do you even love me today? I don't know what we're doing anymore Harold.
This song is a fine trumpet instrumental song, This will have an obvious appeal to the easy-listening crowd. For me, however, it comes off as lacking in some crucial ways. The fact that the trumpet and the instruments combined just sound a little off to me. The hums are also rather unnecessary considering how little they add to the track. If you want to add hums to a song make them mean something or just don't include them.
Out of all the Elvis songs I've reviewed up to this point. That being 3. This is the best one and the only really good one. I'm not an Elvis fan but there's a charm in the spoken word and a better-than-average vocal performance from Elvis. See Elvis has never written any of his songs in the history of his whole career. Because of that sometimes it can make it feel like Elvis is just a character and not authentic to who he is. This song's greatest strength especially in the spoken word, Is that ... read more
This song is not terrible. It's just very one note and the instrumental mildly annoys me, also the "STAY" chants make my skin crawl but the vocal performance has some fun bits here and there. But it's overshadowed by the overwhelming mediocrity. it doesn't help that I recently heard Ray Charles before this song and loved it more than 99% of music.
My 1st ever review of 100 on this website, I wouldn't want it to be anyone but the one and only Ray Charles. This song is so iconic that it literally is the state song of Georgia now. In 1979 they made it the official state song. Its tune feels like it's slowly pulling you towards it. The vocals are in the classic style that Charles had. My personal definition of a 100/100 or a perfect song. Is simple would I change a single thing about this song or do I think there's some area where it could ... read more
