Sus1er - B4s5 Affiliated Music
80

If you're like me your favorite song of 2025 was .cutspace's "Rank". The layers of buzzing and metal pipe metronome make for a mechanical tsunami. If you're also like me you have been eagerly awaiting a further exploration of that sound. That's what Sus1er does here, with 3NDLES5 bringing a subtle cool that is a perfect complement. .cutspace himself even makes an appearance on the final two tracks. If you have 15 minutes to spare do yourself a favor and listen. ... read more

nic - 12

The best release of the year happens to be something I only accidentally found (or, more accurately, found me). Autoplay bestowed upon me this absolute gem of a mix. A small display of nic's own tracks, an exhibit in the soothing nature of simplicity. It's not often music can instantly help wind me down, so I deeply cherish when it does.

Munch Lauren - Hotboy Munch
80

One of the blueprints of the now thriving Lowend scene in Milwaukee, Munch Lauren's Hotboy Munch wastes no time in showing why an entire genre is modeled after it. Fueled in equal parts by catchy hooks, uptempo beats, and its charm and goofiness, there are a medley of reasons why I keep coming back to it.

おしゃれテレビ [Oshare TV] - おしゃれテレビ
85

A one off Japanese project from the 80s, Oshare TV capitalizes on its lone EP by delivering some of the wackiest music I’ve heard. But it’s the more conventional tracks that ground the listener in a world of childlike wonder and whimsy for an all too short 26 minutes.

🌟 Asia no Koi
⭐️ Koi no Terrorist No. 1 (Keichan no Notteke Missile)
⭐️ Mahiru no Hoshi

DJ Muggs & Rigz - GOLD
75

Rigz is a perfect pair with DJ Muggs gritty beats. The album's dirtier sound may bring to mind Griselda, but diamonds in the rough "Supreme" and "Where Ya Soul At" are what clearly shine through. The latter track is an essential listen for hip hop heads and easily among the best of the 2020s.

🌟 Where Ya Soul At (feat. Mooch)
⭐ Supreme

Chapters226 & Bootlxgg - DIVDRILL2K22
80

A fast-paced, bite-sized EP consisting of fantastic production but mostly just competent rapping. If you're like me that's fine, but there are some highlights for those more invested in the performances. "GENESIS" showcases a bit more character and the clams casino-esque "FOREVA" has chapters226 with a flow that seems effortless. However, it is Ghais Guevara's feature on "DOWNTOWN" that clearly outshine every other verse.

Rana Plastic Bubbles - Always Tangerine

It's been a while since I've done a review. A couple years ago I was doing several a week. I became unsatisfied with them, stopped doing them, but have missed the communal aspect of sharing and discovering music with others. So I figured if I were to get back to reviewing, I'd focus on more obscure releases. I’m too lazy to do in depth reviews, so really this will just be a recommendation accompanied by at most a small paragraph. Now on to the music!

"I felt the same first time I heard it, it feels really tame if you listened Atrocity Exhibition first. It took me another three or four listens to appreciate, and I learned not to compare it to Atrocity Exhibition because, frankly, nothing can compare to Atrocity Exhibition."
