Sick ass zombie metalcore that holds up even from when I first listened to it back in high school
While looking into more hardcore EDM, I decided to finally give Kaizo Slumber a spin after seeing their name around thanks to their 2022 record, "The Kaizo Manifesto". Funnily enough, this is probably the least EDM thing the project has ever done, as "Tummyache" is much more of a nu metal (even nu metalcore) record than an EDM record. The first release to feature fromjoy's atmospheric breakcore sound that set them apart further from some of their metalcore peers. While both the atmospheric breakcore track and the metalcore track are quite good, some of the structures and songwriting don't seem to hit as hard as "hollow.treatment". As a first release touching on more than just metalcore, I think it does what it set out to do pretty well, even if they would release much stronger material later on.
