So many great songs. I Am a Scientist is a blueprint for the next 28 years of indie music. Tractor Rape Chain despite having a questionable name (had to look it up to find out it was about rape seed lol) is probably my favorite here. The lyrics may be borderline nonsense but they're very evocative of very specific emotions, also helps that the melodies are fantastic too. Just really mess with songs like My Golden Years and How Can I Lover Her More? Really amazed by their use of complex harmonies and mixing several old school sounds into their sound. Their style is very tongue and cheek while also being genuine just by the way they dress. It's very clear they have a genuine love for the music of the 60s and 70s flaws and all
Mixes my love for Rolling Stone's style dad rock and weird post punk bands. There's a lot of influence from an album like Exile on Main Street but also a band like The Fall as well. Also love how soulful but also weird the lead singer is. Just a mix of really passionate and just the weirdest inflections
