The bit about loving willy caught me off guard, but the rest of this is an enjoyable, fairly dreamy country record that hits all the notes that country rarely does for me
A continuation of their signature sound that comes across both heavier and occasionally messier than their past works, but maintains a strong level of quality much like you'd expect from AF
Kahan's songwriting is poignant and well done (for the most part, it can be a bit samey at times), but the vocals didn't quite land for me. I'm not too familiar with Kahan's music to know if it's commonplace, but the high pitched inflections felt forced more often than they felt natural
Whilst not quite reaching the heights of their first album, this certainly provides a solid listen and a good addition to their discography
Just didn't appeal to me much at all, but then again I have no real personal connection with the original either so this probably isn't for me at all!
Not really for me - some moments impressed me but on the whole I just didn't connect with anything here
Really enjoyable, incredibly catchy hooks and a super fun atmosphere for the most part - it loses points for a weaker middle section
Generally solid, but apart from a couple of well developed moments it doesn't do all that much to stand out from the crowd for me
A pleasant listen, but unfortunately for the most part it felt a bit flat and at times even hollow
Didn't really do it for me to be honest! I'm not quite sure if it was the vocals, lyrics, or general atmosphere of the album but something just didn't click for me. I would however be curious to see how they grow from here as a band!
Deeply uncomfortable and unsettling, but in the ways that you would want from an album like this
The fact that Good Kid have managed to evolve their sound from their usual high tempo pop-rock into a varied array of tracks is something that I genuinely didn't see coming - I was worried this album would sound exactly like every other track they've released in the past! Ultimately this is quite an enjoyable listen with a good range throughout, but it certainly suffers from short track syndrome!
REALLY enjoyable - an album that came as a surprise to me but had so many characteristics I really liked!
