Despite having some better song and more interesting, this album ultimately is not a strong as the one that precedes it
Edit: Damnit, not again
After more listens I have come to the conclusion that this is a 10/10. Everything about this album is really perfect. Each song builds in very exciting ways and pays off beautiful. The same can be said for the original version of this album, but some of the songs are improved here. Those song being “My Boy”, “Nervous Young Inhumans”, and “Famous Prophets”. The only song actively better on the original is “Stop Smoking”, ... read more
I enjoyed this album fairly enough. While their are parts that take heavy inspiration from Slint’s “Spiderland” I still think this album is fairly good and unique. Some tracks aren’t as good as other though. “Sunglasses” is a masterpiece of a song and is easily the best track here.
Edit: the more I listen to this the better it gets
Holy shit. This was so good. I haven’t heard anything as dark but at the same time equally chaotic, even in other albums from this group. Man this was so good
I originally did not like this album too much due to instrumentals not feeling really well flushed out, and the flow not making each track feel individual enough, but holy crap upon my second full listen to this thing I really like it now. I still have the same complaint about most of the instrumental songs (with the exception of “The Great Gig In The Sky”), but it isn’t as major of a problem anymore. The flow of this thing is insane and one it’s best aspects ... read more
Groovy, experimental, and catchy. One of the best early more electronical albums. The one flaw is that there are a few songs on the first half that don’t feel like they were given enough attention. Aside from that it’s really good
Edit: nah this album a banger
Pretty good and a definite step forward for the group, but there all some issues I have with how certain songs sound and the writing of a few of them.
This album is pretty good and really important, but most of the middle portion of it feels like filler
My sister and my friends kinda forced me to listen to this. Not horrible but still does have problems
The groups best album in my opinion and that’s saying something
Edit:
Man every time I hear this thing I love it even more. “Somebody Calling Me” is really the only song I don’t love to bits. Just such an enjoyable easy listen.
Took me awhile to like, but when I did come around to it, it almost made me cry and not many things do that
Ok rewriting my review because, as with my first listen, this thing just redefined my musical opinions again. I first got it this album around when I was getting into the strokes and Joy Divison in 2019, and when I discovered it was like magic. Every thing on this album was. But it eventually lost that sense of magic. Me and thing album had a love hate relationship, where I still enjoyed everything about it, but I was mad it didn’t give me the same magical sense it did upon my discovery. ... read more
Fun, energetic, groundbreaking and masterful production, what more could you want. One of the best albums I have ever heard
This album means so much to me. This one of the only things to ever bring me to actual tears. Everything on here is just perfect. This album has helped in many ways. It just means so much to me, more than every other single piece of music out there. I love this thing so much. I don’t know what else to say now.
