I've underapreciated this trio for the longest time. The truth is, their beats were hard, their lyrics were either fun or told awesome stories, and all three of them had loud, powerful voices.
This track is no exception to any of that.
Beastie Boys goated.
Smooth, ghostly vocals make the calm instrumental sound less calm, and more chilling, as it leads into the emotionally sung chorus that plants goosebumps on your skin.
This song is so raw, but it has the catchiness and energy that blessed their later works.
Also, that chorus and those weird backing vocals are great and add atmosphere to the song.
Tom, this is awful, theres nothing going right for this song. The beat sucks, the lyrics are awful since he seems to think that mentioning his bad traits suddenly disables them, and overall I get no joy from this.
I, fortunately, had the privilege to sit with the flex boys and watch the premiere for this record, and I must say..I’m very impressed with you guys.
This went from music that is made to make your ears bleed, to music that you chuckle at and drop a few man tears with.
I’m proud of this label and I cannot wait for more.
An overall multi-layered and very catchy tune. One of the best on the album.
Honestly, this album is overhyped. I get the meme rap that Joji was going for, but it’s consistently unbearable throughout its run time. It’s not even really funny. I can enjoy pink guy’s self titled album because there is the jokes (while immature, is pretty funny) and the actual songs. He actually raps and sings on there, while here it’s just a hassle to get through.
