Yeah I’ve heard this before...
And yeah I still think it’s the best alkaline pink song.
If there’s one thing Rusty Cage is good at, it’s building a dark atmosphere. In this song he takes over two perspectives, a rat and a man working at a junkyard. He creates a strange aura in this song simply by the instrumental, which uses distant distorted record scratches and stretched out piano chords with unfamiliar samples, as Rusty raps about a man feeling surrounded and uneasy by a rat horde as it comes in closer and closer. In the climax of the song, the rats latch onto him ... read more
This is such a loser song, and therefore I can relate to it. I love the desperation and nonchalant attitude in Dexter’s voice and in the instrumental. It just adds to the vibe of the song, that being, as I said, a loser vibe.
TWENTY ONE PILOTS | CHAPTER TWO
This is honestly one of the most mixed bag albums I’ve heard. Frontman Tyler Joseph wasn’t wrong when referring to this album later on as a “glorified mixtape”. It has some honestly great songs, especially the ones that sound like cuts from “Self Titled” (like “Forest”, “Ruby”) because I personally love that sound from this band. It’s moreso present on the former song with the synths having a sort ... read more
Honestly one of Weezer’s catchiest and funnest tunes. The huge guitar and thumping drums make this sound great, and Rivers’ lyrics manage to be both stupid and introspective. Really overlooked and overhated and has some of their best and funniest lyrics.
The Van Halen influence is cool but I’m really not wowed by this. It’s kind of just stock Weezer with 80’s hard rock vibes.
As a whole the singles haven’t really impressed me either. I’m hoping the album tracks are way better. “The Beginning Of The End” is great, however.
(70 —> 58. Just really shrunk in context of album)
TWENTY ONE PILOTS | CHAPTER ONE
Twenty One Pilots is an album about the mind. The entire album chronicles what’s inside the 18 year old lead singer Tyler Joseph’s head. going from heartbreak, to the scary grey area of religion, to inevitably death. This makes it easy to read the album in many different ways, which I think is cleverly depicted on the cover of the album, the first thing you see once picking this up or pressing play. It doesn’t quite give away what’s in ... read more
Pathological Liar: Just kind of boring, and the vocals aren’t the best. Like they’re kind of really grating at points, and it’s all so repetitive. Just kinda not fun // 47
Kokichi: More soothing actually and comforting, but the vocals are nowhere near perfection yet // 68
WEEZER | CHAPTER FOURTEEN
It’s a shame I had to delete my original Zeezer Of The Planets review, but I feel this one is a little more substantial. Similarly, OK Human is the most filled out and layered Weezer album in 5 years. To get here, however, we had to endure a long discography filled with ups and downs. From a cute little rock album, to a cute little orchestral album, Weezer comes around once again. I almost want to curse their inconsistency, and this album removes me even wanting ... read more
WEEZER | CHAPTER THIRTEEN
I’m just so tired at this point. Three albums that are back to back bad. Just pure bad. This has never happened in this dive so far. Weezer has never consistently put out bad albums..until this point. And I can only really blame “Pacific Daydream.” That album put Weezer into a bad, generic, sugar pop mindset and I really hate this fact. A band I love, I really don’t went to see them fall from grace but three bad albums in the span of three ... read more
WEEZER | CHAPTER TWELVE
At this point in time I literally have no idea what Weezer is doing anymore. I understand the whole Africa thing, and that was funny and all but did we seriously need a 36 minute cover album that is longer than their last two actual albums? No! Not a all! This has a few solid covers, mostly carried by how well Rivers’ voice fits on that particular song, but them changing up the song a little bit is appreciated. But honestly? This is very boring..so much so that I ... read more
WEEZER | CHAPTER ELEVEN
What a mockery of Weezer and a waste of time. This is their worst album with their worst writing and their worst most generic most bland production they’ve ever done. This is worse than Raditude and Make Believe. It’s so boring and uncreative, and what makes this worse is that it came out a year after The White Album, one of the band’s masterpieces. QB Blitz is alright and that’s kinda it. Nothing at all to return to and it was absolute torture ... read more
WEEZER | CHAPTER TEN
I’m going to flat out say this right now this is the best Weezer album since 1994.
Everything about this album is catchy and it’s mind-bogglngly consistent. Every track is great and the punchy drums, matched with a youthful Rivers and blaring guitars that bring you back 22 years earlier. All kicked back with a summer vibe and you have yourself another perfect Weezer album. Perfect Weezer album? That’s something I haven’t been able to say in ... read more
WEEZER | CHAPTER NINE
Weezer’s 9th studio record “Everything Will Be Alright In The End” represents a return to form in Weezer, and while not perfect and a little less interesting than my favorite three by them, this album is traditional Weezer no doubt. I don’t like this in the same way I like Red, as an experimental fun album, I like this in the way that I like Blue, a fun and more classic project. I don’t think this is on par with either, but I think it’s ... read more
WEEZER | CHAPTER EIGHT
Ah, so here we are. The beard man album, my favorite of that series of albums. Anyways, does Weezer rebound back from the awful Raditude? Definitely. Like in almost every single way an improvement. But is Hurley a standout amongst every Weezer record so far? No, absolutely not. It’s certainly not a generic Weezer album, and has a fairly unique raw vibe, but the record is kinda just plain boring. Don’t get me wrong it has some great tracks with heartbeats like ... read more
Holy shit, hollllllly shiiitt. Wow. I’m going to interrupt my Weezer series real quick just to comment that this song is absolute garbage. Probably one of the worst and most generic pointless pieces of actual Human Resources.
I actually forgot about this song for a few days, but just was reminded of the awful memory I have of this song. That memory being visiting my grandpa and having to hear this song around 20 times and not being able to change it.
And okay, she can sing fine, ... read more
WEEZER | CHAPTER SEVEN
Wow. Just wow. I barely have anything to say. That was awful. Another one listen album from Weezer. I’ll never listen to another Weezer album only once, but god I just couldn’t sit through that again. It’s like Make Believe times four, with a more generic pop sound and just painfully weak and shallow...everything!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll go check out that album with the cool guy with a beard on it.
