Execution on this album is poor. While it seems that Demarco is going for a chill, simple sound. He ends up sounding really boring and one dimensional.
Rostam’s departure is definitely felt. Instrumentation is bland and not fully fleshed out and songwriting and hooks feel one dimensional.
FlyLo’s new album Flamagra explores the concept of fire and a world on fire. Each track is more mind-bendingly detailed than the last. Whether the songs have features or not, they are all incredibly entertaining. Flying Lotus grabs your attention and holds onto it from beginning to end. Each track is meticulously detailed in production. Whether the production is more along the lines of hip-hop, neo-soul, Experimental electronic music, or even a blend of all of them. They are all great. ... read more
Carly is back again with some great hooks and synth and electro pop bangers that are endlessly fun
Not their most original work. A little too much filler. But the highlights are all really great.
The listener sees a new side of Tyler as he delivered a loose concept album about a failing relationship of his.
This is an incredibly exciting album. It really pushes the boundary genres of pop-punk. PUP experiments with some metal influences here and there, while also taking influences from late 90s and early 2000s pop-punk bands. The album absolutely lives up to it’s title. Many of the lyrics are incredibly dark, but at the same time some of them are so ridiculously dark that they are humorous, which only makes this album more endearing in my opinion. The dark lyrics contrast in a funny way with ... read more
I like the guitar driven production that runs pretty consistently throughout the album. But I also think that some of the songs are pretty forgettable. Standout songs are Georgia, Baby Boy, and Peach. The rest are nothing special but still pretty good. It is clear that the BROCKHAMPTON members work better together.
Production on this is consistently great. I have been wanting to see him drop a full R&B/Soul album for a while. I think that Anderson is a very talented artist and can do better, but I think this is still pretty good. Vocals are great, and the features are well implemented too (especially the Andre 3000 feature).
While they do draw some pretty obvious influences from IDLES (who they are also currently on tour with) I think they manage to keep this album sounding fresh. As a whole this album is well written and keeps a pretty high energy level. This is pretty outstanding for a debut project. Can’t wait to see what they do next.
This album plays it pretty safe. The production is Very bass heavy for the most part, I think it tries to be pretty minimalistic, and in some points of the album the minimalistic production actually compliments Billie’s voice pretty well. But in other points it feels a little bland. I think the highlight is probably Billie Eilish’s voice. I think she has a really beautiful voice, but yet again I think she plays it really safe there too. I think Billie is really talented, and while ... read more
The energy on this album is probably what peaks my interest the most. It’s high energy and punky and crazy. However the album is so short the songs just don’t feel fully fleshed out. Also, I don’t feel like the production is raw enough to really match the vocals and the energy. Plus those stupid spoken word interludes are just so ridiculously cringe-inducing it hurts.
Huh... this is bad. This is really really bad. The only good thing. I have to say about this album is that it isn’t the most insulting and delusional piece of music I’ve ever listened to. Otherwise, I can’t say that there is anything good about this album. Lyrically, sometimes it feels like Logic tries to get deep and personal, but in doing so he just feels so surface level and ridiculously cringe-inducing. His vocals on this album are absolutely atrocious. He sings throughout ... read more
To me the best part about this album is the production. I love how clean and soulful it sounds while still being pretty abstract and different to a certain extent. The lyrics are pretty good and I think the message that Quelle Chris is trying to get across is pretty compelling and can even be enjoyed and understood if you’re just listening to it at a somewhat surface level. It’s nothing crazy though. Not groundbreaking music but good.
While American Football's last release was sub-par to say the least, I'd say that this is a big step forward for them. While it is still nothing crazy, I would say that it is very good. The emo rock feel with the math rock influenced production and guitars still continues to excite. I feel like I can also hear American Football pull some influences from dream pop in this album, which I think only adds a whole new layer to the quality of the production and helps progress their sound.
Wow. This album is great. By far one of the best UK rap albums I have ever heard. Simz just oozes confidence throughout the whole project. Some tracks are hard hitting and others are more laid back, but no matter what, Simz flows incredibly well on every track. While there are definitely a lot of hard hitting cuts on this album, there are also cuts like 101 FM, where Simz gets personal and introspective. The production is great and stays interesting throughout because of how diverse it is. ... read more
God this is so bad. All the beats are so ridiculously basic,. I don't know if he produced them or if he picked them but either way they are just absolutely atrocious. Nav uses the same flow and the same stupid nasally monotone voice on every single song. It feels like Nav just has no personality. He is just some robot singing over some shitty beats. The only good thing about this album is the features. Not even because the features are good, but because it is a voice other than Nav's. The ... read more
Honestly, this isn't as bad as some people are making it out to be. A lot of the hooks are pretty catchy. JuiceWRLD is also not too bad of a lyricist for an emo-trap rapper, there are a few funny lines scattered throughout the album. Unfortunately, the album is 72 minutes in length and is way overly long. I do appreciate that he makes an attempt to try and breakup the repetitiveness of the album on a few songs like "Big" "Out My Way" and "ON GOD", and not that ... read more
This album has some really good moments, but as a whole it feels like a pretty mixed bag. Rivers’ vocals are solid as always. His songwriting is also decent. The song “High as a Kite” is probably my favorite of the more recent Weezer songs. But I still don’t really love Weezer diving deeper into pop music than the pop-rock sound of their earlier albums. However, they do it better on The Black Album than they have in the past.
