History of rap #12
I don't see why the score is so low tbh. It's just a young too short doing his thing. Pretty enjoyable.
History of hip hop #10
To my knowledge this is the first japanese hip hop record. It's alright. Nothing crazy tho.
History of hip hop #9
I guess it's accurate to the state of rap at the time, but it's kind of funny hearing how wrong he would be in just a couple years
History of hip hop #6
I can't find a whole lot of this, but what I did find is some very chill and peaceful and smooth old school hip hop.
History of hip hop #5
I guess that I just wasn't ready to get in the double Dutch bus for the first record of 1981
Not using in the series as there's only one rap song, actually I don't know if I'd call it that, and the rest is spoken word that I don't even understand so......
History of hip hop #4
This is the fourth album on this series, but really this is the first full fledged and competent hip hop album. It's good. When he goes in other directions it's not so good.
History of hip hop #3
I'm noticing a pattern that I'm not a very big fan of here, that being the very long songs with honestly no need to be that long. Anyways, this album is half soul half rap. I like both sides a decent bit, but jesus christ these songs are so long. Sugarhill groove does not need to be 10 minutes long.
History of hip hop #2
This is so much better oh my god. So from what I know, this record is only one song, and what a song. This is exactly what I'd like to hear out of these old school rap records. Very soulful rapping over some very nice and fun old jazz instrumentals. This is honestly very close to a 100 for me.
History of hip hop #1
So this is the first recorded hip hop lp on this site, huh?
Doesn't really sound like hip hop to me tbh. He's not really rapping, or even rhyming on here. The beats are pretty good, even if very repetitive, but the big problem comes with the lyrics. They're either not very interesting or just very very uncomfortable. Not to mention, every single track goes on for way too long. Pretty underwhelming first record for this genre all things considered.
It's as if someone tried to make a beales record only having heard her majesty. It's not super terrible, but there's honestly too much weird stuff going on here, and over half of it doesn't work for me, resulting in a weirdly boring album after about 10 minutes
It's not my favorite electronic album, and it for sure won't be my aoty, but I will say, for someone like skrillex, who I've had sort of a negative idea of him, this is very fun and also pretty funny from time to time.
This is one of those albums that is very very popular, and I like it a lot, but it just doesn't hit me on the same level as a lot of you. It's just very vibey indie rock.
I really really like the production here, but the vocals don't have enough energy to support the production imo.

Ima be honest the hypocrisy from Kenny hurts a lil.
