Buddy isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea, vocally in particular his singing, which means if you DO enjoy his singing and especially his screaming, this will be one of your favorite emo albums. Heavy, emotional, dark, unrelenting, and most evidently, very catchy.
This is the type of album where you go, “Man I’m really not sure about this album and tone and sound,” to 10/15 years later being one of the most passionate, emotional, and heavy hitting albums, dare I say ever? This is the blueprint of a wave of post-hardcore, and yet it feels like it absolutely perfected the ethos of the genre.
Hypnotizing, entrancing, nostalgic, mesmerizing. Are you getting the picture? This is the musical equivalent of being caught in the rain and finding shelter under an awning and seeing everything else getting wet. Like being in a sound proof bubble during an apocalypse.
Manages to be Kendrick’s third greatest diss track released in a week and a half.
This is the greatest display of emotion put on tape.
On a re-listen, yeah this is a pretty good album. There’s definitely some songs that are definitely more on the good/okay side than great side, but man… Overcompensate and Next Semester is the second best one-two punch to open an album only after Trench. Navigating has energy, Routines In The Night has a pop feel that I really like, Lavish is so fun; the beat/production is essentially colorful Trench. Sitting with this album for a couple of days, I can confidently say this is Bring Me The Horizon pushing the envelope AGAIN and will go down as BMTH’s A Thousand Suns. An album that strayed away from the band’s most notable sound and turning certain things to 11. This is essentially what the band should have done on amo where there’s elements of the weirdness but also heavy but also catchy and putting in a package where the visuals fit the narrative makes this album a dynamic ... read more
For a first listen, there’s a lot of songs and moments I was fond of, and some moments that left a lot to be desired.
There’s some cool ideas, and Faye has such a great voice that it carries overall average songs.
I love this album. I love the pacing, the songs, the lyrics, the exploration of sounds and textures. It arguably has my favorite song of all-time (Weird Fishes). Very few albums I feel very comfortable giving a 10/10, 100%, perfect score. I love you, In Rainbows.
Probably the greatest hip hop record of the 21st century.

This IS the greatest hip hop record of the 21st century.
An album with such immense replay value, that damn it… I might listen to it again.
