Why is Cosmic, probably one of their best and most beautiful title tracks, attached to such a low effort ep?
Ever since Chill Kill I feel the b-sides don’t really hit as they used to, with some remarkable songs on that album but what felt like a lot of filler. This time, even with a shorter tracklist I feel none of these songs stand out apart from Cosmic, they definitely feel like Red Velvet songs, but I feel they lack charm to be as replayable as older tracks, Last Drop and Night Drive ... read more
someone else said this album sounds "sophisticated" and it really does. i don't mind the simple beats as hikki's vocals carry the songs alone, and even in their simplicity they are catchy and interesting enough.
i really dig the vibe here, chillest utada album to date (i am pretending there is no skrillex remix included)
now these two title tracks are amazing, if it wasnt obvious before this ep, seulgi and irene's voices complement each other so well it's amazing, i like naughty a little better but they both suit them really well and completely sell me on the dance genre of this ep
the b-sides, however, really drag this one down, which for some reason tends to be a common thing on solo rv projects, none of them really stand out to me and i always struggle to remember their names, the only remarkable b-side on ... read more
yeah its all ballads, but i just keep coming back to this ep
when this rain stops definitely being a major highlight for me, i think all these songs have a particular sound that make them stand out, and they definitely display wendy's voice in a nice way. the last track featuring seulgi is probably the weakest of the bunch, as much as seulgi is my favorite vocalist in red velvet, i just cant get into it that much
either way this is a really comforting listen
the more i listen to this one the more i like it.
despite birthday being one of their weakest title tracks with messy instrumentals and a really odd sample, the b-sides make up for it, specially bye bye, zoom and celebrate. the playful instrumentals here make the most of red velvet's amazing vocals in ways he really hadn't heard before while keeping the signature rv sound. overall, it's a fun ride.
