Many critique the songs on this LP as sounding too similar, I actually quite like it, as it gives each song a sense of familiarity while continuing to have a unique, defining aspect that distinguishes one song from the next. My main issue with this album is that it certainly gets weaker towards the end, with songs like "The Man Who Lives Forever" and "Lullaby," but I would be lying if I said they still aren't great songs. Perhaps I just have an affinity for Lord Huron ... read more
Rascal is just unpleasant to listen to. I'm Not Over You and Welfare were great though. This album had a lot of potential, great title, great cover, but it didn't have anything interesting to offer.
It's not revolutionary, but I enjoy his energy and he could very well become a prominent West Coast figure.
J. Cole completely dominates the album, but I do love every song except Backseat.
Love Don't Live Here was actually a 10/10 song, but besides three tracks, this was pretty boring. Wouldn't revisit it.
The production is all over the place and the $NOT song was awful, but I like the rest of the songs. Mike Dimes, Guapdad4000, and Jasiah all did well.
To me, it says a lot I didn't really get bored during a 2 hour long album. Besides "You Are My Sunshine" every song was either pretty good or really good.
Fun tracks, good flows, great production. Nothing extraordinary though.
Myy favorite album of 2024, I have listened to each of the songs so much, I can basically recite the words to ~6 of the songs. Such a 2000s dirty south mixtape vibe with features on every song--most of whom brought their A-game, Mike Dimes, A$AP Rocky, TiaCorine, and Kenny Mason. It's obviously not as lyrically profound as TA13OO or Melt My Eyez, but he still brings energy and character to another great album.
This album sounds like if someone who really hated alt rock did an impression of alt rock. First off, it's way too long, by minute 20 I was just waiting for this mess to be over. Too many songs were just the lead singer breathily moaning the hook over and over and over again for the entirety of the song. Nearly all of the songs sounded identical in that they sounded like off-key, unorganized demo-tracks. Listening to this album felt like a form of slavery, like I was given a chore that I ... read more
Me and You is the ONLY good song. The rest are awful sad-boy anthems that have no original lyrics, packed full of cliches, and boring beats.
Started really strong, I loved the ones with Rook Monroe and Souls of Mischief but the second half became incredibly boring, repetitive, and just bland. I loved the Eyedress one though. Definitely not revisiting but it was alright I guess.
