Chester's screaming vocals really only worked on the band's heavier music. Don't believe me? The last song on the album is even worse.
Maybe a little too similar to What I've Done, but still the only good thing to come out of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen's existence.
Has some great songs buried in between less great songs, and endless skits. Seriously, the album opens with TWO skits in a row. That fact that they're together automatically puts them into Low Points.
High Points: Burning in the Skies, Waiting for the End, The Catalyst
Low Points: The Requiem/The Radiance, When They Come For Me, Blackout, Wretches and Kings, The Messenger
Has some good songs, but not the best overall album to introduce your new sound
Inconsistent album that tries to split the difference between satisfying old fans and introducing their new sounds, and creates a Frankenstein monster that probably won't satisfy anyone. At least it gave us What I've Done.
High points: Given up, Leave Out All the Rest, Bleed it Out, What I've Done, No More Sorrow,
Low points: Valentine's Day, In Between, In Pieces
I guess I can't HATE a song which has the line "pee-pee go doing-doing-doing" in the chorus.
I was thinking of listing the best and worst songs here, but every song on this album sounds pretty much the same
"If darkness had a son, here I am"
Oooh, you're so dark and cool. Now, go do your homework.
Teleprompter: "Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da"
Musically it's boring. Lyrically, it's a parody of itself.
Basically, the Vandals' "Anarchy Burger (Hold the Government)" but without the irony. Finally, a song that understands the counter-culture isn't about fighting systems of oppression, but just about doing stupid shit that will get you killed! The anti-vax national anthem.
Good Riddance? That sounds like the perfect song to play at this graduation!
Good song, even if it did pave the way for the band to lose their punk rock edge.
The best song is the vastly overhated title track. You want to know what the second best song is? A novelty track about wanting to stab you in the heart.
High Points: Father of All...
Low Points: Oh Yeah! Meet Me on the Roof
"Yeah! This is Revolution Radio!"
*spends half of the album playing the sappiest ballads you'll ever hear
Songs like Bang Bang and the title track show that Green Day can still make good punk rock when they try. This is still by far their best album since 21st Century Breakdown.
High Points: Bang Bang, Revolution Radio,
Low Points: Outlaws, Still Breathing, Youngblood, Ordinary World
High Points: East Jesus Nowhere, Horseshoes and Handgrenades, 21 Guns,
Low Points: !Viva La Gloria! The Static Age
One of the best pop punk albums ever recorded.
Sure it has it's tendencies that would eventually drag the band down, but this is back when they were cool and artistic and not just a crutch.
High points: Boulevard of Broken Dreams. American Idiot, Holliday, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Jesus of Suburbia
Low Points: Extraordinary Girl,
He did indeed alienate his fanbase.
The album equivalent of a shitpost, but with a little bit of actually talking about serious stuff.
Hobo Johnson could make To Pimp A Butterfly, but Kendrick could never make All I See Is Poop.
The END really was the end of the Black Eyed Peas success. And this was the perfect way to ring in the BEGINNING of their mediocrity.
One of the most iconic party songs ever.
People who hate this song are just upset that they aren't having a good, good night.
Perfect for what it is. There's a reason it still gets played at parties. A song that captures the party vibe without being dumb, vapid, or annoying. It's like being somewhere you actually want to be and not at a loud club with drunk frat boys screaming "woo" in your face.
