I hope his vocal chords are okay
Admittedly, I am very unfamiliar with this genre. it can be hard to sort through all the noise, distortion, and screaming, and at times it can feel just like noise and nothing else. However, once they land a good riff, or a good solid groove, I finally understand all of its power and all of its energy. This would totally rock in a live setting. Not something I would listen to on a daily basis, but I might listen to some songs here and there

Bro really using anything as an instrument
Undoubtedly one of the most unique folk projects I have listened to. When it hits, it uses its unique production, instrumentation, and Exuma's raspy and powerful vocals to make a one-of-a-kind immersing experience. However, it can experiment a bit too close to the sun on a couple tracks, completely losing that immersion and traction. For 1970 though, this is still an absolute marvel. I will come back for a couple tracks, not for the entire album

Not a lot to review on lol
Definitely a VAST improvement over the last EP, giving groovier, more thought-out song writing, while still keeping the charm that drew me in in the first place. It's only three songs so I have nothing more really more to say lol. Just a solid batch of songs. Might come back to

Fuck the nft part tho
Fairly decent collection of slow-tempo rap, with stumbling, twisting bars, delivered well by Earl. beat are excellently made and produced, probably being the best part on this project. the only major downfall is that the songs can tend to sound and feel the same, not leaving too much of an impression, molding some songs into one big blob of song. The flow and vocal inflection can also feel weird at times, weird where it is not meant to be. However, the haunting beats and ... read more

Completely serviceable rock
I really wanted to like this album more. I really did. When it gets good, it has ear-wormy pop hooks and excellent songwriting and lyricism. The major flaw with a lot of the songs is that it latches onto a melody, or chord progression, or general musical idea, no matter good or bad, and repeats the idea without adding anything new or interesting to it, leaving an okay song feeling stale, repetitive, and annoying. Not to say it is all bad though, generally it is an ... read more

"I may not have a moral compass, but I have an idea"
bro really looked at a tragedy, some would argue the worst tragedy that could possibly happen to a person, turned to his friend and was like "dude I know how were making it to the big city"
Like why would u make a parody of the album with such heavy topics like that anyways like what

huh

Pretty interesting backstory definitely check it out
The soundscape is interesting and well made, each track being dreaming and calming. When the musical ideas work, they work very well and very effectively, the first track being an example. However when they do not work, they are just annoyingly repetitive, flat, or downright bad. Same goes with the lyrics and singing. They hit when they hit, but when they don't, the vocals can come off weak and shaky, and the lyrics can come off cringey. ... read more

Why did I wait so long to listen to this album
The guitars can hit you with the forces of a truck, with pummeling chords, or can go slow and mourn with beautiful riffs, and tone. The lead singer has an immaculate voice to fit each emotion the track conveys, with a yelp-y, almost childlike style, pairing with his witty, memorable, dark lyricism. Each Idea is well thought out to its fullest extent, each experiment is well integrated, and most importantly, everything is catchy as all hell. It'll ... read more

One of the best singer-songwriter records I've heard in a minute
This is basically everything a singer-songwriter album should be. Expert finger-style guitar, with different instruments carefully and masterfully chosen to fit each feeling of the track, ranging from catchy sing-a-long to somber, heart-felt lullaby. No matter what is chosen, it always strikes straight to the heart. Even if the tracks can get a bit formulaic at times, Van Zandt's yearning country vocals, his excellent lyricism, ... read more

Dude who hurt u brah
This is top tier dad rock. With incredible lead guitar riffs, to a surprising attention to detail to the soundscape, and making it sound pretty too. With the scathing, blunt lyrics and the more hushed vocal performances, mixed in with the soundscape, make this record a misanthropic, almost bittersweet listen that hits to the core. There are some problems, like the mixing on the album being a bit weird at times, and the song structure sometimes tend to go nowhere or not in a ... read more

Dude knows how to make choruses
With their debut album, they already lay down the foundation of their sound, with noisy, dissonant riffs, with catchy, melodic vocals overtop. There are a lot of good musical ideas on this album. However, either from not being implemented into the song well, or being to repetitive, or not having enough spot light, not all of the ideas on here come into fruition on every track. Plus, the amateurish nature of this project does not always benefit it. Might come back ... read more

Master of punk hooks
this is a solid collection of art punk. For the first two thirds of the album, it is energetic and punchy. It has impossibly catchy hooks all over the place, while punching you in the face with fast distorted guitars and yelling vocals, the amateurish production and playing style adding to the whole charm. The lyrics throughout this album touch on heavier and more political subjects, so while you're having fun with the instrumentals, the lyrics make you sit down and think. ... read more

Melancholic Country to a T
It starts off strong, with Molina's excellently soft, stutter-y vocal pairing well with the folk and country instrumentation. Combined with the master lyricism, he is able to make a 6 minute country song into an entire experience, feeling like a warm, depressing hug. The album does dip ever so slightly in quality in the middle, the songs with features being the least enjoyable. However they still are precisely written and overall good songs, just not to the same ... read more

In the middle of the second track I literally yelled "fuck yeah" to myself.
Not only are the instruments played with intense proficiency, They are all played with meaning and emotion. Each tempo change, each chaotic, one-of-a-kind instrumentation section is phenomenal. Not only does it speed up well, it knows how and when to slow down at the exact perfect moment, which is the most subtly masterful part of the entire album. You will either swing your head in pure bliss, or grind your ... read more

It's not clicking
This project is very interesting to say the least. On the one hand it is a very singular listen, with yelp-y vocals and the instrumentation feeling exact and precise, almost robotic (but in a good way), gives a sonic palette unlike any other album, and a very specific energy no album can quite replicate. On the other hand, songs on here can tend to be one note, and not evolve or go anywhere beyond its first minute, and some of the experimentation with the sonic palette don't ... read more

Horrendous.
Lyrics try to be deep, but end up shallower then a soup spoon. Every beat is generic and exactly the same and you can not prove me otherwise. Even when the background is genuinely interesting, it is immediately sunk down by the terrible vocals. God the vocals. They are so emotionless, bland and monotone it is absolutely unbearable. Never coming back to this one. shivers go down my spine even thinking about it.

Reverb go brrrrrrrrrrrrr
The thing that surprised me the most was, yes it was ambient, but I wasn't ready for just how groovy it was. It can switch from groovy, to an absolute vibe and a half, in the middle of a song, yet still feel cohesive and thought out. This does not sound like mid eighties to early nineties at all, and that blows my mind on how modern it is in terms of sound to this day. Not to say it goes without its flaws. Some of the sounds he experimented with didn't always draw me ... read more

Not as big as it thinks it is
Not saying it is devoid of good things of course, there are a couple of songs I actually do enjoy to an extent, although I do not agree with all of their artistic decisions, and there are good ideas spread across this album. However, those ideas rarely are executed well. First of all, the lyrics, though can be heartfelt, tend to be written in a cringey way, that paired with the over-pronounced singing gives off an annoying and sometimes complaining impression, ... read more

Fricking awesome
There are a lot of albums that call themselves a "mishmash" of different genres, but none is truer than this album. A mixture of Hip-Hop, Country, Hard Rock, Experimental and at points Noise come together, to make songs that sound like the most unique tracks I've heard, but not cheesy or gimmicky at all. It feels genuine. And, to top everything off, even though the lyrics at times don't make a lot of sense, the melodies on this album are catchy and memorable, and each ... read more
