A beautiful and exciting album, The Gift attempts to bring afrobeat as close to mainstream as it's ever been. KALI UCHIS DID THAT. R&B masterpiece, one of my favorite albums of 2018, beautiful production, great lyrical content, all around a pretty solid album. One of those I've listened to hundreds of times and i still see myself listening to it many more.
Beyoncé made something that people have listened to many times (especially me) feel extremely fresh, and that alone is enough to justify this album's high rating. But if that's not enough, then let's add her AMAZING vocals, the celebration of black culture and an incredible band, along with great special appearances and you've got one the best live albums ever made.
I genuinely don't have words to describe what this album means to me. It's one of the greatest masterpieces i ever had the joy of listening to, and it was a huge surprise, as someone who barely knew any work from SZA before listening to this (never sleeping on her again though!).
