Beyoncé - The Lion King: The Gift
88

A beautiful and exciting album, The Gift attempts to bring afrobeat as close to mainstream as it's ever been. As an album, it can stand on its own pretty well, but has clear connection to the movie, with almost every song written to represent a certain moment from Lion King (and with interludes to hint at what moments those may be before each song), from BIGGER representing Mufasa's words to young Simba about how he must take his place in the circle of life, to SCAR giving us a kind of goodbye ... read more

Beyoncé - BEYONCÉ

Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, sh*t on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
Beyoncé's self-titled is a masterpiece that talks about feminism in ways that very few people have dared to approach, placing women in total control of their sexual desires, and it does it flawlessly (pun intended). An album that pretty ... read more

KALI UCHIS DID THAT. R&B masterpiece, one of my favorite albums of 2018, beautiful production, great lyrical content, all around a pretty solid album. One of those I've listened to hundreds of times and i still see myself listening to it many more.

Beyoncé - HOMECOMING: THE LIVE ALBUM
100

Beyoncé made something that people have listened to many times (especially me) feel extremely fresh, and that alone is enough to justify this album's high rating. But if that's not enough, then let's add her AMAZING vocals, the celebration of black culture and an incredible band, along with great special appearances and you've got one the best live albums ever made.

SZA - Ctrl

I genuinely don't have words to describe what this album means to me. It's one of the greatest masterpieces i ever had the joy of listening to, and it was a huge surprise, as someone who barely knew any work from SZA before listening to this (never sleeping on her again though!).
Where do I start? CTRL has beautiful and deep lyrics, amazing production, and SZA delivers her vocals perfectly, resulting in an amazing experience anyone should feel lucky to witness. Both Supermodel and 20 Something ... read more
