God bless the U.S.A. π¦ πΊπΈπ«!!!!!
Vince is back with genuinely his best album of his career. It’s hype but also very conscious and political. Each track is built upon the struggles that black Americans deal with. Police brutality and rising up against oppression are huge themes in this album, with “Blackberry Marmalade”, “Go! Go! Gorilla”, “Cotton” and “The Big Bad Wolf” all dealing with said issues. His rapping is aggressive, like ... read more
This man has one of the best discographies that no one knows about. This is Navy Blue’s 7th consecutive album and it brings a lot to the table. The drumless sound is so smooth and lush, with his rapping just flowing so elegantly over the production. The features here are amazing with Armand Hammer, Earl Sweatshirt, and the late Ka being featured here. No surprises here as they built the underground drumless rap scene. Lyrically, this is similar to his other albums—being ... read more
My favorite white boy is back!
Malcolm Todd’s second album, “Do That Again” is a slick indie pop/contemporary R&B project with plenty of sexy lyricism and vocals. He’s way hornier here (I mean just LOOK at that single art for “Breathe”), but I kind of love it. He feels more genuine and passionate here. I definitely think at a run time of 36 minutes, he could’ve expanded upon a lot of ideas, but this felt different enough from his self titled and ... read more
I was a bit surprised to hear that this is Converge’s first record in over 20 that wasn’t released on their own label. Despite this being a random fact, them just being on Epitaph Records made a huge difference for me. I definitely think this record is less metalcore and more post-hardcore than their other releases. Tracks like “Dream Debris”, “Detonator” and “Doom in Bloom” were great, but definitely gave me more hardcore punk vibes than strictly ... read more
Genuinely one of the greatest jazz rap projects of all time.
Lupe's rapping, even at 41 is speedy and snappy. He gives off a lot of energy in the first 5 tracks, with the highlights being "Cake" and "Samurai". The concept of an Amy Winehouse battle rap album is so weird, yet works so well in his lyricism.
ABBA is just so classy.
There's nothing better than some summery music by ABBA. The lyricism here is so upbeat and fun, giving off beachside parties. Definitely not as good as "Arrival", but still is full of hits and that vocal lushness that they're known for.
I'm not sure if I really love this or really hate it...
Lizzy Mercier Descloux's second album is a funky dance-punk record that has some weird sounds in it. I was not a huge fan of the vocals but they were groovy and fit the vibe of the album. The disco aspects were definitely more notable in the rhythms and less in the melodies. The funk was turned up to 1000 with "Funky Stuff", with an electrifying bass line and new wave style of production.
Overall, this is a weird one. ... read more
God I love this kind of music and it's officially sexy slut summer, so it's perfect.
Ninajirachi just has such a great understanding of how to create lush but hype as fuck electrohouse pop music. Great compilation of some of her best hits from her EPs.
π We are family! I got all my sisters with me! πΊ
Genuinely one of the greatest title tracks of all time comes from this album. "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge is an amazing disco pop soul project that incorporates elements of contemporary R&B at its earliest stages to create this soothing yet groovy project.
Baddie cover art.
1983 was Anri's year. Seriously her two albums, "Biγ»Kiγ»Ni" and "Timely!!" are two of the most legendary disco/boogie city pop albums of all time. Unfortunately, "Biγ»Kiγ»Ni" is definitely forgotten over "Timely!!", however this is just as great as the latter. I think the slower songs in "SEA SIDE" hurt this album just like in "Timely!!", but here I don't feel too strongly for them here. ... read more
Cobrah's debut is a decent project with some amazing production that reminds me of ADÉLA, but the album is too damn short. I'm fine with shorter albums but there were some great ideas here that weren't really expanded upon. It has some really nice sounds though, the production is deep and heavy that fits the horny lyrics.
"Art is sucking the life out of me..."
Hey man, you alright...?
Edward Skeletrix's latest project "Body of Work" is the most batshit insane hip hop project of the year. Coming off of some mediocre projects in 2025, I was not expecting much. However, this is super dark and depressive, which is perfectly represented by the noisy sounds. It doesn't even sound like music in some areas, but just the raw emotions he feels.
There are some tracks that are genuinely ... read more
I swear to God these guys make such strange music.
The only album I've checked out by Sparks is their strange glam rock project "Kimono My House", and this album completely flips everything on that sounds's head. It's synth heavy with elements of disco, perfect for the late 70s. There's also sounds of early dance-pop. I'm still not a huge fan of the vocals but I definitely think they fit this electro-disco sound more than glam rock. Overall really good.
Just some classic disco here; nothing more, nothing less.
Seriously when I say that the Bee Gees carry this record it's not even funny. "Stayin' Alive", "More Than A Woman", "You Should Be Dancing" and "How Deep Is Your Love" are just classic disco pop songs that DEFINE a generation. I think my biggest criticism comes with the actual instrumentals, especially the remixes of Beethoven and Mussorgsky. They're just not very good and really ... read more
It's modern day disco... but not nu-disco!
"MANIA" brings a funky and neo-soul sound to disco with electrifying production and smooth vocals. The R&B elements are nice and pure and definitely a welcome addition to disco. The synthpop parts remind me of The Weeknd and the production of Tame Impala and Djo. The more pop focused songs are closer to synth-funk and the early days of Bruno Mars. Great stuff here.
Overall, Micah Dailey-White's sophomore album is an underrated ... read more

It seems Navy Blue learned a lot from working with Earl Sweatshirt, as this is takes so many elements from his style. His rapping is great here, not missing a beat with lush and conscious lyricism. Perhaps the biggest drawback here is the runtime. Only 29 minutes is definitely short here and luckily in his next album he basically doubles the runtime, but it would've been nice to see more development in the outros or in the flow of ... read more
The second installment in Navy Blue's Quadrilogy comes in with some quality jazz rap here. The production--albeit smooth and keys into that soulful drumless sound, seems to be of lower quality. I'm not sure if that's because it's a rip from a vinyl record, but it didn't feel like that lush sound we got in "Song of Sage: Post Panic!" or "Gift of Gabriel: Rain's Reign!". The second half of this record is miles better than the first half, with it ... read more
Smoother than butter, it's fucking Navy Blue of course.
It might be disco week for me but the excitement for a new Navy Blue album made me revisit the albums I haven't tapped into yet, and his 2025 "The Sword & The Soaring" is probably his most progressive and spiritual album since his 2022 album, "Gift of Gabriel: Rain's Reign!". Elsesser finds himself in a very vulnerable and emotional situation here and it's extremely lush and beautiful to hear ... read more
The cunt is through the roof with this one...
Kylie Minogue's best album by far is a spectacular nu-disco pop album that has some of the best dance pop songs of the early 2000s. With the majority of attention towards pop music from that era coming from teen pop artists like Britney Spears, it's good to see a more classic sounding album come from that time period. Just a great album that's so danceable!
I could not do my Disco Deep Dive Week without Kylie Minogue, and "Light Years" is a great starting point.
I absolutely love the direction of this album, it's just upbeat bangers that give some Madonna-esque feel. It's a love letter to the music and feminist empowerment movement of the 1970s and the synths, lush strings and wispy, sensual vocals give that 70s feel.
What threw me off is "Kids", which is almost an indie pop rock song with some weird guitars in the ... read more
