Modern Baseball might be slowly becoming a favorite emo group... hope they're not disbanded! π
For their second album, they fucking cooked. Genuinely some of the best emo-pop IMO. It strips back a lot of the indie folk sounds for a more hardcore-punk sound that honestly I really enjoyed over "Sports".
Play ball because it's time for the emo deep dive!
Modern Baseball's debut studio album is a great blend of folk pop and midwest emo to create this insanely melancholic vibe. It's a great project that keeps things low-key. Pretty good debut, excited to check our their discography.
Dare I say Malcolm Todd has one of the best discographies of modern day indie pop?
This man has the smoothest vocals of all time. It's just buttery smooth and the soft rock influences are so clear but he doesn't make it annoying or in your face. It's subtle and lowkey. Beautiful production here.
Malcolm Todd makes a great EP and the grass is green.
Seriously a fantastic little collection of indie pop songs from Malcolm Todd here. His vocals are so fucking sexy and although lyrically it's not great, the production + vocals bring this up so high. Easily his best project so far.
Big pharma?? Nah, this is big fish!
"Big Fish Theory" is Vince Staples's second album and dips into the weirder sides of hip hop with elements of hip house and deconstructed club being present. I think my biggest critique of this album are the lyrics. I liked them, they were super weird but almost too weird to the point of me scratching my head to what's being saying. The production, though is out of this world good. It's avant-garde and pushes the genre to a new level ... read more
The food looks so tasty! π
"Tommy Airline" is a great J-pop album that's just a fun as hell record. It uses elements of nu-disco and wa euro, a genre new to the site!
Overall, this album is really a great upbeat listen that sounds right out of a classic Japanese soundtrack.
Taeko Εnuki perfectly encapsulates a brisk summer night in "Mignonne". It's soft, but also jazzy and full of sweet melodies and vocals. It's a simple album, but has some of the sweetest sounds from the earliest forms of city pop and although artists like Tatsuro Yamashita and Anri brought boogie into the genre, Εnuki keeps things original yet simple. Overall just a wonderful album that's a staple for any city pop enthusiast--it's sexy, calming, and lush.
Maybe I need to take more recommendations so thanks to @illmaticlover94 for this.
Beck's "Sea Change" is the greatest goddamn folk rock album of the early 2000s. Beck is most known for his somewhat goofy alternative rock single "Loser" from 1993, however there is so much more to his music, especially in "Sea Change".
Here, Beck is soft spoken and heartbroken. The pain he's feeling is raw and mature. It has this simplistic sound to it yet it's ... read more
Absolutely batshit fucking insane...
and it's fucking amazing. Scott Walker's first album with 4AD records brings an off-the-walls insane experimental musique concrète/dark ambient album with the most random and unpredictable sounds. It's dark, disturbing and unapologetic. In his previous album "Tilt", there were moments of clarity and serene beauty but "The Drift" strips all that away for an avant-garde sound. This isn't really an album of ... read more
SCOTT WALKER YOU SEXY SEXY MAN.
After 11 years of gap from his 1984 record "Climate of Hunter", we get "Tilt". This record is gorgeous, not just for its vocals but for its production. Walker pulls out some insane musique concrète sounds in tracks like "Bouncer See Bouncer..." and "The Cockfighter". It's unsettling and so damn ominous but it works really well. It's like over time of his life, Walker is moving towards a more experimental ... read more
As I get older, the biggest fear I have is seeing the ones I love die before me. Sun Kil Moon's "Benji" is exactly what this record is all about. It's about looking back on your life and living through the regrets, the deaths, and the misfortunes. Some might view this album as bittersweet, as even though life brought upon hardship, it's good to look back on the happiest of moments as well. Overall, I loved this album for its ominously peaceful instrumentation, vocals, ... read more
A perfect album for the spring.
Radiohead member Ed O'Brien taps into chamber folk pop to create this lush, nature-esque record that's so damn serene. The strings in "Blue Morpho" are just to die for, and I honestly could not get enough. The ambient elements were nice and the blending of jazz rock with chamber pop was an interesting choice that works out well.
I genuinely believe that "Grace" by Jeff Buckley is one of the greatest albums of all time. It's just beautiful in every aspect. Buckley embraces a somber, passionate sound here and it works perfectly with his vocals. The folk aspects combined with alt-rock brings this unique sound through each track and Buckley's serene vocals are the cherry on top.
First off we have "Lover, You Should've Come Over"; my favorite. The folk rock aspects are embraced here, ... read more
Never has an album made me feel so chill and chilling.
"Geogaddi" is the highest rated project by Boards of Canada and I can see why. It's just so well put together, leading you on with these hauntingly tracks but then having some really beautiful interludes. I rarely praise interludes but this is an album that deserves that praise. It's dark, yet calming and the same time. I'm really excited for their new album and was very glad I tapped into this and "Music Has ... read more
Haha they say the funny number in "Aquarius"
My first dip into Boards of Canada is fucking amazing. This record is very hypnotic and sounds like some killer hip-hop beats in the making. The sounds used are so nostalgic for no reason, and are super smooth and atmospheric.
"This won't be the last from me, its just the start."
The second album by Seattle indie rock group Death Cab for Cutie is just full of that classic early 2000s, late 90s indie rock sound. The slowcore elements really echo that 90s sound throughout.

Gao the Arsonist comes back to make one of the most progressive and energetic mixtapes of 2026. Following his eviction the day before, he locked the fuck in and creates this wonderful project. Music aside, I hope bro's okay. π
Musically though, this slaps. It's aggressive, punchy and Gao keeps the energy throughout every track that they flow just ... read more
Shoegaze is a genre I really need to tap more into, and maybe that will start with Tokyo Shoegazer!
Dreamy vocals and heavy production bring this album together. Vocals remind me A LOT of Faye Wong with its precise, breathy tone. I did find myself struggling a bit to hear the vocals as the instrumentals were just so heavy and loud sometimes. Overall a great album that gets better at the end, and 100% worthy of that must hear.
Converge makes metalcore on another level istg.
"All We Love We Leave Behind" is Converge's 5th must hear album in a row (that's an insane feat of itself), and they knock the genre with heavy, hypnotic riffs, powerful vocals, and great energy throughout. I know a lot of people hate on metalcore, but this is some aggressive, hardcore shit here.
I mean it's decent?
fakemink's second album is a trippy energetic project with some good lyricism but mid vocals. He sounds so congested throughout the album it's kind of cool but gets annoying. I definitely think fakemink has a lot to improve upon, but for cloud rap, it's decently well produced and written.
Also, I'm all for experimental rap and pushing the genre and all, but was it really necessary to put a 7 minute spoken word song...?
Okay upon relistening I ... read more
