C’mon guys
It’s a Frank Sinatra impression over some less than inspired production. Listen to ‘A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra’ and you’ll get this but 100x better.
All I'm gonna say is that everyone here seems to be an expert on producing when Jack Antonoff is involved.
I can't help but feel a bit led on by Overcompensate.
I'll try my best not to compare this to Trench too much, but when I first heard the first two singles off of this album I expected this to be the grand return of the "Trench" sound (with a bit more of a poppier-rock sound to it). Then when Backslide came out it kind of jarred me a little, though in retrospect it was the perfect single to release before the album. Backslide was a giant neon road sign that let us know that this ... read more
Have you ever wanted to hear vessel but with much worse production? No? Oh well!
A bit late to the party but I finally got around to listening to this song I can confidently say its probably the best thing I have heard an AOTY user make. Now I don't think its perfect, theres a kind of weird section about halfway through the song with some chopped up vocals that to be frank are a pacing killer to the song. short break: its so cool that Hetfield is giving it his all on the entire album while the rest of band can barely manage to come up with a interesting guitar riff
Hitting "Is this album about jesus or a man" with the biggest "Both" of all time.
8 years ago Sufjan Stevens made an album about death.
2015’s Carrie and Lowell was a tribute to Sufjan’s late mother Carrie. It was also a plea for reconciliation. Throughout that album Sufjan laments the few memories of his mother that he had, though they were few and far between. However, Sufjan wasn’t content with his mothers death and how could he be? In the final moments of Blue Bucket of Gold Sufjan doesn’t offer finality, and lets the encompassing drone of ... read more
Thanks for 100 followers guys/gals/gonzos
I’ve been avoiding this album ever since the leaks came out. Mostly because I didn’t really enjoy the singles and I just wanted to ignore it incase I didn’t like it.
Though now that i’ve actually given it a listen I can say its pretty good. Nothing amazing as this goes for a more lofi-ish lullabies for paradise sound which I have never been the biggest fan of. Although, I do I like this album alot more than that one. Josh Homme ... read more
Stupid people reveal themselves by not being able to fathom how this album could be about anything else besides wanting to fuck Anne Frank
Squid Souls
This is gonna be the stupidest comparison ever, but its the only way I can get my feelings of listening to this album across accurately.
Listening to O Monolith is like playing Dark Souls 2, now stay with me here. In Dark Souls 2 the time you spend in-between bosses is (mostly) spent wondering around the dungeons or areas. This experience, at best, is just fine and sometimes engaging, and, at worst, can be extremely tedious. Sometimes there are creative ideas but most of the time ... read more
