After many many MANY washed allegations and multiple controversies Kanye had throughout 2022 and 2023, I didn't really have hope for this project at all. I heard snippets of the album every now and again, but they sounded unfinished and they didn't really stand out to me. With Kanye seemingly going crazy and the album receiving delay after delay (and Nicki not letting Kanye use the New Body verse), I thought this was going to be pretty bad. I watched both of the album Listening Party ... read more
Pretty personal album. The album makes this very clear during the first track where it literally says, "Kill Jay-Z, they'll never love you". Pretty harsh start to an album, but it sets the tone that Jay wants for this album moving forward. This album is not a braggadocious album at all, it is down-to-earth and raw. The production of this album is great and I love the samples that each song has. Jay talks about multiple topics on this album including ego, infidelity, money, culture, ... read more
First mixtape I've ever listened to and reviewed. I don't know if you could already tell how I feel about this from how I rated it, but I love it. 'Coloring Book' is such a good mixtape. It blends gospel, hip-hop, and a little bit of jazz into a beautiful work of art that is this project. All of the production and the blending of genres in these songs sound so good and a lot of these songs are bops. Not only is the production good, but the lyrics varying from track to track also have a lot of ... read more
I don't even know where to begin with this album. Kendrick is well-known and praised for his introspective lyrics, storytelling, genius lyrics, etc. Well, this album has it all. This is where it all started going up for Kendrick Lamar. This album has a very unique cinematic feel to it. It follows Kendrick Lamar as a teenager and the experiences he has in his home city of Compton. The experiences range from violence, gang violence, sex, drugs, alcohol, peer pressure, and even death. Kendrick on ... read more
Love this album. Every song on this album is a pretty popular song, I mean, on Spotify, the platform that I use to listen to albums, all of the songs on this 17-song album have at least 100 million listens. AT THE VERY LEAST. ALL OF THEM. That alone should go to show how popular this album is. Not only is this album pretty popular and a lot of people have at least heard of or listened to one song on this album (looking at you Sicko Mode), but the album itself is great overall. Sicko Mode is ... read more
Merry (late) Christmas! After unboxing gifts yesterday, I had a sudden urge to listen to this album. I don't know why, but I just really really wanted to for some strange reason. It was like the album cover was glued into my mind, I had to listen to this album. I knew people liked it, but WOW. This album is SICK. I know this might seem random, but these songs would be perfect for something like the NBA 2k soundtrack playlist (these songs are amazing like the songs they have in their playlists). ... read more
This album is a trip but in a good way. This album is full of bangers and is arguably considered Travis Scott's best album. Something that I find so crazy about this album, at least on this website, is the fact that the Critic Score and the User Score tell completely different stories about this album. Going off of both scores, critics hate the album while users love the album. I have never seen it before on an album on this website where the score of the critics is in yellow with a good amount ... read more
Mac is trying to have fun with this album, and although I can appreciate it, comparing it to what his work would later on become is just no contest. Mac does show flashes of talent with his rapping, but it's in the beats where my problems lie. I'm still flabbergasted by 'Loitering' and its beat. It literally reminds me of 'Music that makes you poop'. The beautiful beats and instrumentals that sound heavenly at times in later Mac Miller projects are just non-existent on this album for the most ... read more
Everything on this album is personal to Mac. Whether you like this album or not, I feel like you have to respect the impact of this album and how it would go on to shape the rest of his career. If you think about it, this is the groundwork/blueprint for his albums and the content in his albums moving forward (except 'Devine Feminine' but we don't talk about that thing). Mac talks about drugs, money, his days in high school, and so much more. Yes, this definitely isn't his best work (For crying ... read more
Pretty chaotic album, but it goes hard. Although I've never listened to JPEGMafia up until this point, I've always wondered how he could be so underrated. Like, soooo many people have this album towards the top of their 2023 AOTY lists and his albums seem to be loved time and time again, yet on Spotify, JPEG barely cracks a million listeners. Well, now I think I know. The songs from this album aren't smooth bangers you would hear on the radio from someone like Jack Harlow (Hey! Someone who's ... read more
Pretty good album. I really like how in this album, Mac is changing up the sounds intrumentally as the album goes from song to song and he even changes his tone and rapping delivery as the album goes on. It has all of the songs contribute to the album in a unique way unlike in ahem.. other albums. *Cough cough* Divine Feminine *Cough Cough*. Anyways, speaking of the album that shall not be referred to, Mac also mentions multiple topics throughout this album that conveys a lot of meaning. Topics ... read more
I like this album, I really do. Yes, I know the message of the album, compared to other Mac Miller albums, isn't that good. I mean, hell, you could call this album one big anthem of... *insert word that rhymes with flex here* (I don't want to get banned for saying a no-no word). Anywho, the album's message is pretty repetitive and can be annoying at times, sure, Mac definitely talking about his "encounters" can definitely get old and just flat-out weird after a while. However, ... read more
I'm back from my little hiatus break from this website (yay) and what's a better way to say I'm back than making a somewhat controversial take? Personally, this album made me feel like I was in a fever dream. Yes, the lyrics to this album are pretty deep and Earl does talk about his depression, parents, etc, but I'm sorry, I need to address the elephant in the room, the beats. I don't know, I just didn't like them. I'm trying my hardest here to avoid saying a common flaw about this album with ... read more
Greatest piece of music I've ever listened to. If I could rate this over 100, I would. Easily one of the best EP's I've ever listened to. This should win Hip-Hop AOTY.

"OmG tHE DrAke Pfp iS FiNalLy rATiNg A DraKe aLbUm!" Yes, yes I am, I'm not even a Drake fan, but mark this day in history! Anyway, this album is good and is easily one of Drake's best albums. Drake sounds "hungry", if you will, on this album and says his lyrics with his chest (at least on the rap portions/songs on this album). The beats, arguably, might not be the best (EXCEPT FOR POUNDCAKE) and Drake making songs about girls and relationships is an overused topic for a ... read more
Everything on this album hits. The sound is great, the psychedelic aspects of the album are great, and everything works perfectly together on this album, including Kid Cudi and Kanye. When you ask people what the best rap album of 2018 was, you usually don't hear about this album, you usually hear about Astroworld, Daytona, Scorpion, etc. You don't usually hear anyone mention Kids See Ghosts which is actually kind of hard to believe. It's not like these are 2 not so popular artists working ... read more
In some way, I feel like this is one of the more polarizing albums Kendrick has made. After TPAB, Kendrick goes from a Jazzy album to a dark, gritty, tough album. 'DAMN.' is a pretty dark album talking about various topics involving God, religion, faith, etc. It's still a Kendrick album so it has deep lyrics, good bars, flows, etc, but I just don't mess with it as much as his other projects. I don't like the gritty, dark sound compared to something like TPAB with a more jazzy or funky sound. If ... read more
It's not the best album ever, but it's still not impossible to enjoy. Arguably, it is one of his best albums, and to be completely honest, I can completely see why. This album does have a couple of goofy or somewhat out-of-place moments like the song about Cole losing his- anyways, J. Cole made this album without any features, and even with that, he still goes crazy on this album. No Role Modelz is easily one of my favorite J. Cole songs. The highlights are high on this album and if you want ... read more
Great follow-up to Swimming and one of, if not the, best posthumous releases as of recently. Circles picks up right where Swimming left off with a similar sound and introspective style of lyrics. The sound is amazing, the lyrics are deep, and everything is really well done. Although Mac Miller's life unfortunately ended too early, I think this album is the perfect closure for Mac and his career. RIP Mac Miller.
