The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land

As a Marylander, I heavily appreciate my kind being represented on the cover of this fun and wacky album that probably sounded apocalyptical when it came out.

Also scary funny flying shoe

Melvins - The Maggot

I don’t know who pissed off the Melvins in 1999, but it was definitely somebody. First of all, you can’t make an album this heavy without being angry, and second of all, they somehow managed to make an amazing album just to partially ruin it with the absolutely retarded track listing. Even after all the complaints, they still stuck with it.

That said, this is still a very heavy album — just not in the traditional sense. It’s not “sad” heavy or death metal ... read more

TOOL - Ænima

OK I'm gonna talk about this here 'cause the lady at Great Clips wasn't listening

Ænima is built around one of the most insane concepts I’ve ever heard, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The album takes serious topics — desensitization, ego, personal growth, addiction, toxic relationships, societal collapse — and explains them in the dumbest, most over-the-top ways imaginable. Even the title is basically a joke: a mix between a word ... read more

Melvins - Lysol

This is an awesome album album with awesome songs. My main problem with it is that it feels like it’s over before it even starts like after the absolutely incredible flipper cover Sacrifice you have three very short songs that just don’t give off an impact this album is very underrated for its influence but overall it’s just OK

Radiohead - OK Computer
99

A nearly flawless album from start to finish, there are a few tracks that hold it back from being a true 10 out of 10. That doesn’t change the fact that this is an incredible work of art that deserves its place as one of the greatest of all time. It’s beautiful, depressing, and it has all the flavors that makes Radiohead such an influential and awesome band.

Melvins - Eggnog

It’s just more Bullhead but then transitions into Charmicarmicat which sounds more like Lysol. It’s essentially a bridge between the two

Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops

This album is easily the greatest heavy metal record of all time. It hits every mark—nasty riffs, incredible vocals that shift seamlessly between harsh and clean, and an overall dreadful, disturbing atmosphere. The production is absolutely perfect; it genuinely sounds like it was recorded in the middle of Louisiana’s swamps.

Every track delivers, even the slower songs. “Bones of Baby Dolls” is particularly underrated—I’d even say it’s better than ... read more

Crippled Black Phoenix - Sceaduhelm
77

I would like to start off by saying that this album is absolutely sick, as pretty much any cover with the moon is 🌙

Now for my actual review, I want to start by saying this album is genuinely gorgeous—just beautiful all the way through. It opens incredibly strong and maintains that momentum until about the middle, where things get a bit iffy, but it quickly picks back up with “Vampire Grave,” which reminds me a lot of Marilyn Manson’s more modern work. That’s ... read more

A Perfect Circle - Mer de Noms
74

This album is an incredibly solid listen. It’s not as weak as I remember it being, but it’s nothing particularly stellar either. The instrumentation is consistent throughout, and there’s never a moment where you won’t at least enjoy what you’re hearing.

I think the main issue is that there are so many better albums with a similar sound that you could be listening to instead. As someone else pointed out, it often just makes me wish I were listening to Tool. I do ... read more

A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step

A fantastic album with many shining moments, it does get a little rough around the middle but never becomes a slog. Every song is at least somewhat enjoyable, but the standout tracks are truly exceptional. The album’s theme—exploring decay through drug use and the fleeting glimpses of light that hint at how to escape it, even when you can’t—is absolutely beautiful. It only grows more compelling with time.

The Jesus Lizard - Liar
66

It leans heavily into noise, which is usually the kind of thing I enjoy, but there’s something about it that falls a bit flat for me. There are definitely some standout moments, but nothing feels particularly groundbreaking—except for “Zachariah,” which is easily the best track on the album by a long shot.

There’s something about the mixing that doesn’t quite land, and the vocalist feels a bit restrained throughout. That’s not necessarily a ... read more

TOOL - Fear Inoculum

This album is literally the musical equivalent of masturbating. The thing about it is that it’s good, but it has some major flaws. I don’t think Maynard is at his best here at all. That said, the instrumental work is solid—as per usual—and it’s incredibly easy to zone out to this. That’s both a blessing and a curse: good because it helps you be at peace, but bad because I want to remember what I just listened to.

Overall, the album is incredibly solid, and ... read more

Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want

Oh boy this seems like a cool band! Let me look more into the singer and see if they have any other music planned! OH MY FUCKING GOD YGBFKM!!!

Despite the fact that Alexis had to prove that we can't have nice things this is one of my favorite records of all time The exact kind of noise and despair that makes me feel comfortable Perfect for laying and thinking About how depressing life can be but also the very very small speck of light at the end of the tunnel and that's what this ... read more
