sigh.. couldn't say i expected much going into this album
we are truly in the midst of a pop renaissance.
olivia rodrigo, chappell roan, and now remi wolf as well.
this is the new generation.
the amount of influences and styles fused together here is so difficult to pinpoint, but remi's personality shines bright and she very charismatic and confident just like the other two i mentioned above. she has a great ear for catchy choruses and super danceable production.
i'm surprised she has not blown up in popularity yet as this album is ... read more
my queen Clairo has returned with another amazing album that delves into the soft rock genre and entrances us with her cute vocals.
working with seasoned producer Leon Michels, there isn't any issues I have with the production on here. it goes perfectly well with Clairo's storytelling. the topics here involve reminiscing about past relationships, wanting to be loved, and trying to find new love.
i'm kind of shocked to see that she's gone fully independent; with this album ... read more
trying to make yourself stand out amongst the crowd in the pop sphere is not an easy task nowadays. but here is Chappell Roan making an excellent example of how to do just that. raunchy lyrics, tons of confidence, addictive production, she's not like reinventing the wheel or anything, but this is very refreshing to hear!
someone who doesn't chase the charts and is wholeheartedly herself, embracing LGBTQ+ themes and the feminist movement as well. her songwriting skills show ... read more
what a beautiful ending to a scary and dark album.
the combination of harsh sounds and dark ambient tones and even some angelic soundscapes make for a very intriguing listen and you're never bored listening to this. it flows and moves along very well, never overstaying its welcome, and at 43 minutes, is very concise even though it may not feel that way during the longer tracks. i usually am averse to screamed vocals, but in this album, they're very tastefully used so i appreciate ... read more
disappointing to say the least, especially because I thought her previous album was decent. this album tries to experiment with the alt r&b sound a bit, but it's never fully committed. so you just hear bits and pieces of it throughout the album and when you hear it, it's not fully thought-out either, so it all ends up being very messy and annoying. case in point, the Jill Scott featured song, "Sucia," or the country pop song "Better Not." both are trying to be ... read more
Wish the shoegaze part was a little longer tbh

a good debut album from this kpop group i just found out about. the production isn't all that special, but most of the songs are very catchy and the vocals are great. not generic, but not groundbreaking.
my favorite country artist has just returned. this time, ironically, with his least country-sounding album yet. it's more folk and singer-songwriter to be honest, and i'm here for it.
you can just tell that he's gotten much more mature with his writing and the guitar playing is just as heartfelt and amazing as usual. Zach is not taking any big risks or making any big changes in his sound, but he is still telling honest stories about his experiences and the lives of the people ... read more
