Holy shit, this is amazing. Everything is ear candy, it has to be one of the most satisfying records I've ever heard. It's amazing how much this record has grown on me. I would've told you on first listen that it was great but it suffered because it had little to no replay value to me, but that opinion has made a complete 180. I keep on returning to this daily.
I appreciate a lot of the progressive elements of this band's instrumentals and song structures, but what really puts a damper on the music for me is the vocals. Some of my least favorite vocals I've heard yet in this genre.
Macklemore's GEMINI is a show of everything embarrassing that could happen in modern day overly produced, cheesy, corny, and terrible pop-rap that is meant to fulfil the role of being the background music of TikTok videos made by 9 year olds. Bad lyrics, terrible delivery, and even one song, Marmalade, completely rips of the core melody and instrumental components of the song Broccoli by Dram, Ft. Lil Yachty, which is a song that was made and took off years before this record ever came into ... read more
Man idk, there's something about this record. I love every part of this
Weakest Black Dresses record. I do not really understand why some people like this one so much, and I don't find anything here to be really all that exciting, new, or interesting of rBlack Dresses. The songs on this record all kind of mesh in together in a way where it all just sounds blurry. Nothing here is really memorable or entertaining.
Awful lyricism meets whatever lofi beats meets just okay singing makes a bad record.
Terrible genre fusions of Trap, Pop, and Country pop that makes you wish you were spending your time doing something else. No one in the right mind actually thinks this is a good record with catchy tunes, because there aren't even bullshit catchy tunes like a pop record in present-day should at least have a few of. This is not worth checking out.
Actual sleeping aid. This actually might be the most boring record I've heard. Nothing here is captivating, and the only times it isn't boring is because the lyrics are so bad they make you pissed you're spending time listening to a 6ix9ine record. Punani in specific is one of the moments that comes to mind where the song is so stupid, you actually experience pain instead of boredom. Also the production absolutely blows, and this thing sounds very cheap like it was produced by a Fiverr producer ... read more
Backxwash has always been an interesting horror-core style, industrial rapper to me.. In a way I sort of understood the hype surrounding her and her music, with it attempting to be pretty dark and grimy, but as I heard her other previous effort, God Has Nothing to Do with This Leave Him Out of It, I came away from that record feeling like her sound was ultimately pretty lukewarm. In this record I have to say, there wasn't really too much I found all too interesting, aside from the lyrical bits, ... read more
While you could mark off Some Kind Of Cadwallader as some rip off mix of Cap'n Jazz and American Football style midwest emo, and while I understand the comparisons to be made there, I really feel like what separates Algernon Cadwallader from some other bland midwest rehashing like Tiny Moving Parts, is that Algernon Cadwallader has a good sense of fundamentals, song writing, and song structure. I can say I pretty much thoroughly enjoyed every track here, maybe not exactly equal among all of ... read more
Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) definitely is an interesting experience, and one that surprised me pretty well throughout my first listen. However, on recursive listening maybe the charm had somewhat worn off. A pretty good record, but one that definitely is flawed, especially the tail half of the record where there are not too many standout tracks, or tracks that simply feel too much like displaced ideas and thoughts...even though that's sort of what this record is, they still don't hold a torch to ... read more
An absolutely nauseating record. Now, in all honesty, this record placed alongside other eurodance dance pop records I have heard, like The Gummy Bear's catalog, and The Venga Boys Party Album, doesn't look terrible. In all fairness, this record probably has the highest highs I've heard from a eurodance record. At best, this record is pretty catchy pop that you can turn your brain off to and just groove along to, but at its worse, it's cringey, laughably awkward, and kind of boring. The few ... read more
I'm really disappointed in this release. It feels like everything I had liked about the Book of Eli and even some bits of Stokeley are just missing here. Things are pretty skeletal, and most of these beats just feel like leftovers from when soundcloud rap was taking off years ago. Ski's performances are pretty alright, but everything else does not live up to his previous entries.
Alright i kind of enjoyed this not even gonna lie. It's just catchy bullshit, whatever, you play it and turn off your brain. It sounds fun, and it's pretty fun for what it is. In actuality this record is not a 6.9/10 but like funny number, but the actual rating is probably just a 5/10 because I'm pretty indifferent on it all things considered. On this eurodance genre listening and reviewing journey I'm currently setting out, this has been the most enjoyable record so far.
