I hate not always being emotionally stable since I started tearing up during the first verse of a man needs a woman.
Anyway on to the album,
beach boys! I love them so much pets sounds is my favorite album maybe ever for reference, so I always have good expectations for their albums(even tho they don’t always deliver) but I would say this one did serve pretty well.
I like this era of beach boys too. Post pet sounds is always interesting since you can tell the band still has so much ... read more
least shocking thing to ever happen was that i would love the new boards of Canada album.
im so lucky that i got into them when i did because i started listening when the promotion for this album first started coming out via posters and although it was a rough start trying to get into them i came around and i would say confidently they are one of my favorite bands at the moment. so in my head i knew this wouldn't let me down, and it didn't obviously.
lets start with what i dont like, ... read more
finally got around to finishing this and i would say its worth it.
for about 4 months ive had this 'album' on my Spotify recent searches because i was waiting for the opportunity to actually give it a full listen and yesterday that day finally came. i think my main issue might be my attention span since the opening track is genuinely somewhat boring for the first couple of minutes until it then actually picks up later. im pretty sure they did this one purpose tho as it i think its ... read more
If you love this album that’s great but I didn’t really like it.
It’s well produced and does have some cool moments but overall it was just a grueling and annoying listen for me and I’m also just not very big on the whole character she plays in this is gets redundant very fast.
My favorite Radiohead is just proving why he’s my favorite at this point.
Thom Yorkes solo projects are good and sometimes great but for me atleast they never really compared to the stuff that Radiohead would release. They are still great but blue morpho by Ed O’Brien I think is my favorite Radiohead solo project? So I’ll just quickly say why I like it.
Of course the obvious factor is the instrumentation which is stunning aswell as Ed O’Brien having very pleasant vocals ... read more
West side cowboy finally coming out with a full length album🥹
This score was originally gonna be a 85, but after maybe 15 listens I cannot give this any lower than a 9. I can’t put it down. GREEN by Hiroshi Yoshimura is a phenomenal ambient record that really should be talked about more than it is now. Everything about it and in it makes me happy and gives me feelings that put me a tranquility every listen.
As much as I say that I hate the 80s since a lot of it feels filler, I will also say that it has some genuine masterpieces inside it and this ... read more
It was a long week
For those who don’t live in the US, AP exams were this week which is basically college level classes in high school that run for most of the year. And at the end of the units you are made to take a AP exam in which you need a 3 or higher to pass or to get into a college. It’s a very stressful process that takes a lot of time out of your schedule to study and practice for. So why do I bring this up?
I listen to ambient 1: music for airports right before my APGOV ... read more
you know that i care
pink Floyd and prog rock in general is something i have a interesting relationship with. besides black midi and close to the edge, prog rock is the most pretentious music genre i think i have ever heard. i hate rush, i don't like a lot of pink Floyd despite liking this album, and i just cannot get into king crimson no matter how hard i try. its annoying to see the love for these bands and whenever i give them a try. i just cannot because its all the same "oh you ... read more
a wise man once said that i loved Tyler the creator, and then i became 16. sorry if that sounded harsh but to be completely honest i was obsessed with the deluxe version of this record for a long time. i think i loved it so much that dogtooth was the song of the year for me and it most likely still is an top ten of that year. but that's deluxe and i wanna talk about this.
so call me if you get lost by Tyler the creator has got to be 2nd least favorite album to come from "modern" ... read more
Honestly a super beautiful ep by westside cowboy who I definitely need to look more into because this was really great. I think the length does take a little off as if this was an full on album I would’ve love to hear more of it but I’ll settle for these neat little songs that span only 15 minutes. Well worth the time imo.
idk maybe just not quite for me yet. still a good album but i don't know i just don't think i was into it as much as i expect to be. vocals kinda were a bit obnoxious after 10 minutes but the guitars were thankfully very consistently great. i could maybe see myself returning but as of now its just good and i don't really see it as much more than a 7/10.
as much as i want to praise this as being up there with F# and lysflath, i think i barely misses the 9/10 while stilling being without a doubt a great album. for one, two tracks here are absolutely stunning and gorgeous, those being the two longer ones Mladic and we drift like worried fire. both of these tracks could easily be put in gy!be discography as some of their best work alongside dead flag blues and sleep. especially Mladic which made me cry in the middle of the study hall i was in the ... read more
The god of the ground is real
(UNESSCARLY LONG REVIEW)
Music can be interpreted to give a variety of emotions. You can feel happy and overjoyed while listening to some artists, and at the same time feel utter despair and sadness while listening to another. Of course those aren't just the only emotions you can feel while listening to music, but they are sometimes the most common type you hear when listening to music. But one emotion that is rare for me to have at least, is genuine fear ... read more
200th album review awesome
LCD soundsystem this is happening is an album that deserves all of its flowers. James Murphy, despite some gripes I have with him, is without a doubt a musical genius. This is what I would say is his magnum opus in terms of musical achievements. LCD Soundsystem's debut was good, but not really a super great experience to fully listen to in my eyes. The sound of silver is phenomenal and well worth anyone checking it out as it has nothing but banger after banger. ... read more
I’ve always admired the boards of Canada style of glitchy ambient idm but I didn’t think I could truly sit down and finish one of there records since all of them are atleast a hour long. But I finally did and it was pretty much what i thought it was going to be, eerie with a little bit of forgotten nostalgia. And I think it works really well especially for this being their debut. The whole atmosphere and vibe this gives off can make you feel uncomfortable or even insane but at the ... read more
despite it being sorta a ironic parody of pop music, this album can slap pretty hard sometimes. yeah its mainly just kids and time to pretend, but that doesn't distract from how the rest of this album can carry its own weight.. sometimes.. weekend wars isn't horrible and electric feels can get obnoxious but they are still good tracks. but its sorta the second half that tanks it down for me. a lot of it feels sort of boring and made me wish this was a ep instead since its a lot of ... read more

souvlaki on the surface is everything i wanted in a shoegaze album. pretty climaxes, great guitar work, and cool vocals. but it just doesn't quite land the mark on everything else. a lot of it for me felt it was super uninteresting and dragged for a while. i think a lot of that comes from the fact that this is one of the more popular and influential shoegaze albums. this album is pretty much the catalyst for a lot of generic and bland ... read more
Rubber soul by the Beatles is probably the point where you can clearly see the Beatles drift away from the generic rock style they did for their first albums, to a more mature, stylistic, and psychedelic sound. And this is reflected with half the album being masterpieces and rivaling some songs off their best albums, to songs that are okay but don’t really leave a mark. And that’s my biggest frustration with it. All my life is such a good song it’s most musicians favorite ... read more
